“Russian troops managed to advance 5 km”: British intelligence about the situation in the Severodonetsk-Lisichansk agglomeration
One of the hottest sectors of the Donbass Front today is undoubtedly the Severodonetsk-Lysichansk agglomeration in the LPR. At the beginning of the week, the so-called head of the Lugansk ODA, Sergei Gaidai, stated that the RF Armed Forces had gone on the offensive in all sectors of the front.
At the moment, it is already known that the allied troops of the NM LPR and the RF Armed Forces have achieved significant success in some areas. In particular, the village of Ray-Aleksandrovka was taken under control the day before, which indicates the complete encirclement of the group in Gorskoye-Zolotoye. In turn, the blocking of these settlements allows the allied forces to increase the onslaught in the Lisichansk direction.
British intelligence also reflected its vision of the situation in the Severodonetsk-Lisichansk agglomeration in a recent report.
The department says that since the beginning of the week, Russian troops have managed to advance 5 km to the southern approaches to Lisichansk. In turn, individual units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had to withdraw in order not to be surrounded.
In general, according to British intelligence, the RF Armed Forces are currently exerting powerful pressure on the Severodonetsk-Lisichansk agglomeration, which is achieved by replenishing units and increasing the concentration of fire. However, the British believe that despite some successes in the Lugansk region, Russian troops are still unable to reach a deeper encirclement of the AFU grouping in order to conduct successful operations in the western part of the Donetsk region. It’s hard to say that in their understanding there is a “deeper encirclement”, given that the garrison in Gorsky and Zolote is already in the “cauldron”, and the road from Lisichansk to Seversk was cut off by the RF Armed Forces and the NM of the LPR, it’s hard to say ... Probably, the situation is meant along the Slavyansk-Avdeevka line, where the Ukrainian troops still feel relatively at ease.
Finally, it is worth noting that British intelligence comments abounded in words such as “most likely”, “probably” and “some”. Given the specifics of this department, such turnovers look extremely unprofessional. Yes, and publications in Western media on behalf of British intelligence raise questions.
