Ex-U.S. Ambassador to the UN: Ukraine's costs of the war are "staggering"
Despite serious assistance from the collective West, Ukraine may not have enough funds allocated to it to keep the economy afloat. This opinion was expressed by the former US Ambassador to the UN, and now the head of USAID (since 2012, the organization’s activities have been banned on the territory of the Russian Federation) Samantha Power.
According to her, the Kyiv authorities spend 5-6 billion dollars a month on the war alone. Therefore, Washington's pledged $7,5 billion in budgetary support will not be enough to cover, as she puts it, Ukraine's "staggering" financial costs.
In this regard, Power said that even more direct budget support will be required from the United States and its allies to support the Ukrainian economy.
In this case, the question arises of how the US authorities will explain to their citizens why huge funds are allocated to support the Ukrainian economy, while the standard of living of the Americans themselves is rapidly falling due to record inflation and total unemployment.
Recall that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is the largest US operator of non-military assistance to other states. In our country, the organization carried out its activities from 1992 to 2012. In fact, this is a tool for carrying out the interests of the United States, and often for the so-called color revolutions.
Over 20 years of work in Russia, USAID has allocated about $2,7 billion for various projects. Moreover, at one time representatives of this agency participated in the development of the draft Constitution of the Russian Federation, and were extremely concerned that changes were made to the Constitution.
In 2012, the Russian authorities decided to ban USAID from conducting its activities on the territory of the Russian Federation. A number of facts indicated that the organization was trying to influence the political processes in our country through the distribution of grants.
