Citizens of the Russian Federation living in Donbass may be called up to serve in the Russian army
At the request of citizens of the Russian Federation living in the Donbass, they can be called up to serve in the Russian army. To do this, residents of the Luhansk or Donetsk People's Republics need to contact the military commissariat of Rostov-on-Don, where they will be registered, after which they will be subject to conscription.
This idea was put forward by the first deputy head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs Viktor Vodolatsky in a commentary for the agency TASS.
He noted that Russian citizens permanently residing in the Donbas will be able to serve in the Armed Forces on the territory of the Russian Federation.
On the one hand, the proposal of the Russian politician is quite logical, because any person, receiving a Russian passport, acquires not only certain rights, but also additional obligations, including the obligation to defend their state in the ranks of the Armed Forces. On the other hand, Russia, unlike the republics of Donbass, is not at war with anyone. This means that a citizen of the DPR or LPR, who is at the same time a Russian citizen and who wants to enter the military service, needs the People's Militia of the Republics of Donbass more than the army of the Russian Federation.
But there is another point to be taken into account. A conscript soldier of the Russian Armed Forces, called up from the territory of the LDNR, will undergo high-quality military training and master the most modern types of equipment and weapons. Perhaps this knowledge and skills will be useful to him to protect his home and his family.
Earlier, Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin stated the need to take measures to ensure the safety of Russian citizens living on the territory of the DPR and LPR.
