Military helicopter Mi-8 fell on the ice of the Volga in the Ulyanovsk region

29

It became known about the incident with the Mi-8 military helicopter that occurred in the Ulyanovsk region during a scheduled flight. The helicopter reportedly crashed (official reports use the more streamlined phrase “made a hard landing”) on the Volga ice about 2 km from the coast. It happened in the area of the settlement of Dubki. Fortunately, the rotorcraft did not go under the ice, as eyewitnesses report.
At the same time, information about the causes and victims varies.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that "there were no victims and injured during the hard landing":

The crew of the Mi-8 helicopter was not injured.

Local sources claim that the military personnel on board nevertheless received injuries of varying severity. Such data are published with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Ulyanovsk region. It notes that medical teams left for the crash site to carry out evacuation work.

Contradictory information is also received regarding the causes of the "hard landing". According to some data, the probability of a technical malfunction is high. According to others, the incident may be due to weather conditions.

It is known that the Mi-8 helicopter flew from Mulino to the city of Ulyanovsk.

If only there were no serious consequences for people ... they will sort out the reasons, unfortunately, we also have enough such experience.

Iron - to hell with it. We'll build a new one. And the fact that the guys are alive is good. Let their "bodily" heal before the wedding!)

      Unfortunately, not all.

The incident happened on January 28th. Mi-8 fell on the ice of the river near the village of Dubki. As a result of the incident, 27-year-old flight engineer Vlad Shevtsov died. 38-year-old Sergei Kondratenko and 23-year-old Vladislav Muzorov received various injuries.

Iron - to hell with it. We'll build a new one.

The total number of Air Force personnel is about 170 thousand people (including officers - 40 thousand, contract servicemen - about 30-40 thousand).

The number of aircraft. -4163 thousand units (how many of them are in flight condition? And how many are in storage)

Pilots should be valued, but iron should not be thrown around. It's even more in short supply.

Glory to the creator, everyone is alive, and iron can be made new, that is. if it doesn't want to fly.

From an ordinary case, you immediately need to make a sensation. Nothing is known for certain, but a bunch of versions are dumped on our heads. It's time to introduce responsibility for words.

The trouble is that the Ministry of Defense is prone to hushing up, even in absolutely everyday cases. That's why the rumors are circulating.

I understand that we do not learn about all the crashes of planes and helicopters in Europe and America, but somehow we often fall. Of course, a helicopter is a capricious machine and one gearbox is worth something there, but I would like it to fall less often.

The most unreliable part on such an indestructible machine as the Mi-8 is the crew. The vast majority of incidents are human factors.
In general, you need to look at what modification and what flight mission it was.

Unfortunately, helicopters with a single-rotor scheme are subject to such an aerodynamic effect as vortex ring. Any decrease in the ground speed of the machine and a sharp decrease can lead to this effect. Therefore, takeoff/landing must be performed at a minimum speed (such as a short takeoff...).

            I see.
Moving / exhaust air ceases to be a support for both the main and tail rotors.
And yet, regarding you, I understand that you do not care about the essence of the issue ...

It is believed that with a tailwind it is better not to land.

in the world they fly more than ours. but for some reason they don’t fall so often.

Come on in the world, it can be compared with a "real" superpower.

“In 2020, there were 72 military aviation incidents in the United States. Thirteen of the 72 accidents resulted in injury or death. Of these, there were 29 class A aviation accidents, including 23 incidents with manned aircraft and six incidents with unmanned aircraft.
Class A incidents are those in which Department of Defense aircraft are destroyed or the total accident damage exceeds $2,5 million, or where a person is killed or permanently disabled.

In Russia, there were only two class A incidents according to the American system. Total: for 2020, the number of military aviation losses is 2 in Russia to 29 in the USA.

Our 21st year was bad for catastrophes and accidents, in the USA it’s also not sugar:
Seven US fighter jets have crashed in the last two months The state of affairs with military aviation worries American experts. Portal Analytics

          Military Watch
tried to figure out the causes of the ongoing nightmare.

The American portal recalls: on July 13, an F-16C Fighting Falcon, a US Air Force multipurpose fighter, crashed at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.

“This was the seventh U.S. fighter plane crash in sixty days,” Military Watch writes. “The increase in the number of accidents is widely discussed, but the exact causes have not yet been established.”

The crashed planes were in service with both the Navy and the US Air Force, experts say.

Among them were three fifth-generation stealth fighters, including F-35A and F-22 Raptor aircraft. On June 15, an F-15C fighter crashed, taking off from an air base in the UK and performing a mission over the North Sea. The pilot of the plane died as a result of the accident. Just three days later, a US Navy Boeing F-18F Super Hornet crashed into the Philippine Sea. Less than two weeks later, the F-16C crashed at the airbase: as a result of the emergency, a massive fire broke out.
