Opposition hackers carried out a cyberattack on the Belarusian railway to impede the transfer of Russian troops
Opposition hackers, members of the Cyber Partisans group, have carried out a cyberattack on the Belarusian Railways. To hinder the transfer of Russian troops through the territory of Belarus, who arrived for joint exercises, they hacked into the BelZhD computer system.
The attackers reported this on their Telegram channel.
They managed to encrypt a significant amount of data of the Belarusian Railways company. At the same time, as the cybercriminals stated, they deliberately did not influence the security system so that there would be no train wrecks.
According to the Polish portal o2.pl, as a result, the company's website stopped working, and it became possible to buy train tickets only at the stations. There was also a mess with freight traffic.
To prove their involvement in the hack, the hackers published screenshots of the process itself. At the same time, the attackers are ready to provide the BelZhD leadership with ciphers if the Belarusian authorities release 50 political prisoners and stop the movement of Russian troops.
Earlier, Moscow and Minsk announced a sudden test of the reaction forces of the Union State. In the West, they say that the joint exercises are a pretext for creating a group of troops in Belarus, which will then attack Ukraine.
Thus, cybercriminals who oppose the official Minsk themselves admit the fact of a cyber attack on the railway infrastructure. However, the West does not see anything reprehensible in this. Apparently, the reason is that these are "correct, democratic" hackers...
