The Prime Minister of Croatia had to apologize to Kiev for the president's words about actions in cases of war between Ukraine and Russia

In Croatia, they responded to the demands from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to Zoran Milanovic to apologize for his statements.

Recall that the Croatian president said that official Zagreb is equally respectful of both Ukraine and Russia, and therefore, in the event of the outbreak of hostilities, it will withdraw its military from the NATO contingent. Zoran Milanovich also pointed out that in the current situation he considers military and military-technical assistance to Ukraine inappropriate. According to the Croatian President, it is unwise to enter into conflict with Russia because of this.

These statements by the Croatian president caused a wave of negativity from official Kiev. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that Milanovich's statements "are of an anti-Ukrainian nature." The Croatian ambassador to the Ukrainian capital, Anica Jamic, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry and told of "deep disappointment" in the words of the Croatian president. Statements were made to the ambassador about "the inadmissibility of anti-Ukrainian statements against the background of Ukraine's defense of its statehood and territorial integrity." Zoran Milanovic's words were declared "personal ingratitude", stating the hope that they do not apply to the entire Croatian people.

MFA of Ukraine:

We hope that the Croatian people support Ukraine's aspirations for European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic had to intervene, saying that the president's words "have nothing to do with the position of the country's government." The Croatian prime minister had to make an official apology from Kiev for the words of Zoran Milanovic. At the same time, those around the president called these apologies inappropriate, since Milanovich did not show any disrespect for Ukraine.

In Croatia itself, this was called "a precedent indicating that there is a split in the country's power system." The media say that the supreme authorities, as it turns out, do not have a single line on foreign policy issues and are ready to enter into open conflict with each other.

Not certainly in that way. In Croatia, there has long been a conflict between the prime minister and the president.

The president is the commander-in-chief and also deals with foreign policy issues. The prime minister steers only internal problems - there are no special donations from the State Department and the EU here ..

Even after the Crimean platform, they quarreled among themselves over Ukraine, and when the prime minister paid a visit to Ukraine a little later. They just have a system of power somewhat similar to Germany and the president is a more nominal figure than the prime minister, who, as I understand it, is appointed by legislators (I can be wrong, but not much), and not him

Their system of government is not at all like the FRG. In Croatia, both the President and the Prime Minister have real power. This is a variant of a mixed republic in its prime-presidential variant. There is something in common with Finland. A slight advantage for the prime minister. There is another variant of a mixed republic, the French one, where the president is clearly dominating. Prime ministers in both mixed and parliamentary republics are appointed by the presidents, but only from representatives of the parliamentary majority. That is, the heads of such states do not have much choice.

There is an old anecdote about how in Odessa Mr. Hoffman publicly called Mr. Rabinovich a fool. He sued him for defamation. The court, finding no evidence of damage to the plaintiff's property or health, decided to oblige Mr. Hoffmann to publicly apologize to Mr. Rabinovich with the phrase: "Rabinovich is not a fool. Sorry."
At the appointed time, in a crowded place, Hoffman uttered the phrase: "Rabinovich - not a fool for cancer? Because of-we-no-those ..."

It is better for the prime minister to keep quiet, because the president was elected by popular vote (as a result, he is a representative of the will of the people), but he was simply appointed to the position (and has nothing to do with the will of the people, which means this is his purely personal apology).

The article about Croatia in Wikipedia somewhat distorts the idea of the political structure of Croatia. It states that it is a parliamentary republic. This is not true. After analyzing the powers of the authorities of this country, we can come to the conclusion that this is still a mixed republic, but with increased power of the prime minister and a weakened president. Or, in other words, a mixed republic with a predominance of elements of a parliamentary republic.

For the political situation, the form of government in a particular country is not important. Although, maybe you are right in terms of the state structure. It is important that a politician from the leadership created even such a precedent. After that, you can apologize to the sharovarniks. It won't leave him. But the precedent has been set. People, they heard a different point of view .. And they thought, why do they need this ruins of a pigsty called "Ukraine is independent".

The Croatian prime minister, in defiance of the president, apologized for his (the president's) absolutely correct position, thereby intensifying the split in the country. It is a strange phenomenon in Europe to fawn over a country that is ready to put this Europe on the brink of war. The Germans have repeatedly acted like this instead of exposing the Ukrainian ambassador to Germany for threats and direct interference in the internal affairs of the country. Such "terrible" Ukrainian diplomacy or weak will and political impotence of European countries against the background of imaginary "rallying and concord"?

The Croats themselves have a stigma in the cannon, since the collapse (by them first of all) of Yugoslavia .. At the moment we see a confrontation between an adequate "old guard" (at least a little caring about the future of the country) and American slimes (living exclusively on their handouts). Unfortunately, the one who will be sent more money (for propaganda and elimination of the opponent) will win.
