The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation seeks recognition of the actions of the Nazis in the Rostov region as genocide
Fulfilling the order of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation, prosecutors of the Rostov region appealed to the local regional court with a statement regarding the crimes of the German invaders in the cities of Salsk and Millerovo during the Great Patriotic War. The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation seeks recognition of the actions of the Nazis in the Rostov region as genocide.
This was reported today by the press service of the department.
Before that, the atrocities of the invaders were thoroughly investigated by representatives of the prosecutor's office, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and the FSB. They pulled up all available archives, studying documents relating to the mass executions of civilians in the Rostov region and Soviet prisoners of war.
In the course of investigative measures, it was possible to establish that special forces were operating in Salsk and Millerovo, performing punitive functions. From 1941 to 1943, at least 126 thousand people were killed here. They were tortured, shot, and then thrown into pits that served as mass graves.
Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov instructed the prosecutor's office of the Rostov region to file an application with the court.
Earlier it was reported that an alley of memory of the victims of the genocide was opened in Salsk. She appeared near the Salsky brick factory, not far from the place of mass executions.
