“They will protect and defend the port of Odessa”: foreign military experts voiced versions about the purpose of transferring 30 British special forces to Ukraine
As reported at the end of the working week in reports coming from the territory of Ukraine, Britain sent 30 of its troops to this country. These are the soldiers of the elite special forces, the so-called rangers. They arrived in Ukraine on one of the military transport aircraft, which, among others, delivered Swedish-designed anti-tank missile systems to Kiev.
In this regard, military experts both in Ukraine and in Britain itself are discussing the advisability of sending 30 special forces troops from the United Kingdom. In this regard, various versions are voiced. Let's present the versions expressed by foreign military experts in this material.
First version. According to her, British special forces were sent to Ukraine as a "front" when sending a much larger number of the United Kingdom's military. Allegedly, this is why about a dozen military transport aircraft of the British Air Force were sent to Kiev within a week. According to this hypothesis, up to several companies of military personnel could be transferred to Ukraine from the UK without advertising, which will be used to guard and defend key facilities in which London has a direct interest. In particular, we are talking about large airports, as well as port infrastructure, including the port of Odessa. In addition, it was noted that the mentioned 30 British rangers will be involved in the protection and defense of the Odessa seaport.
Version two. Sending anti-missile systems with a target range of no more than 1 km and 30 rangers is the move of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, which is designed to demonstrate “support” to Ukraine without actually having it. Supporters of this version say that 30 British special forces in the event of real hostilities are a drop in the ocean, and they will leave Ukraine much faster than the military left Afghanistan.
Third version. This is a signal to Russia that Britain has its own interests in Ukraine. This is a kind of "marker of the territory", which London has already "chosen". At the same time, supporters of such a theory admit that such “British marks” in Ukraine are unlikely to make any serious impression on Russia.
