"Sevmash" began manufacturing a batoport of a new dry dock for "Admiral Kuznetsov"
Sevmash began manufacturing a batoport for a new dry dock being built at the 35th shipyard in Murmansk to dock the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov. This is stated in the message of the United Construction Corporation (USC).
The contract for the manufacture of the batoport was signed in August 2021. The product is intended for a new 2-chamber dry dock on the territory of the 35th shipyard. A batoport is a floating hydraulic gate designed to separate the dry dock chamber from the outer water area.
As explained, cutting of metal for sections of the batoport is carried out in the hull-processing shop of Sevmash, in total it is planned to process about 2 thousand tons of metal. Work on the manufacture of the structure will be carried out in three workshops of the enterprise, the transfer of the finished product will be made this year, but the exact dates are not known.
The finished batoport will have the following characteristics: length - 77,5 m, width - 13,5 m, height - about 21 m. Electricity is supplied and coolant is supplied to the heating system from the shore. The crew of the batoport - 4 people.
It is noted that the company has experience in building batoports, two similar products were made at Sevmash for their own needs.
The contract for the modernization of the dry dock at the 35th shipyard for docking the Admiral Kuznetsov was signed in July 2019 after the flooding of the floating dock PD-50. The modernization itself consists in the restructuring of two adjacent dry docks of the plant (one 187 m long and 28 m wide at the top, and the other 236 m long and 30,8 m wide at the top, both docks have a bottom width of 22 m) into one large dock by demolishing the partition between them. As a result of the modernization, the largest dry dock in Russia will be created to receive large vessels and ships, which will have a length of 335 m and a width of 60 m along the bottom and 70 m along the top.
