Russian ships will take part in joint naval exercises with the Chinese and Iranian navies. Detachment of ships of the Pacific fleet has already arrived in the Iranian port of Chabahar. This was reported by the press service of the Pacific Fleet.
A detachment of Russian ships, consisting of the Varyag missile cruiser, the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Tributs and the large sea tanker Boris Butoma, as part of the Guards Order of Nakhimov, arrived in Iran and anchored in the port of Chakhbahar in the Gulf of Oman. In the near future, the crews of the ships will replenish their food, water and fuel supplies. In addition, the port will host a meeting of representatives of the official delegations of Russia, China and Iran, where joint exercises will be discussed.
According to reports, CHIRU naval exercises will be held in the Persian Gulf region, Russian, Chinese and Iranian ships will take part in them. During the maneuvers, the crews will work out joint actions to ensure the safety of navigation and the fight against pirates.
After the end of the exercises, the detachment of Pacific Fleet ships will continue to carry out the tasks of the long-range voyage, on which it set off at the end of December 2021. As part of the trip, it is planned to call at a number of foreign ports, including the Seychelles. As noted in the press service of the Pacific Fleet, the call will be timed to coincide with the 105th anniversary of the visit to the port of Victoria of the Seychelles by the Varyag armored cruiser.
As part of the campaign, the ships have already passed through the Sea of Japan, East China and South China Seas, as well as the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea, reaching the Gulf of Oman.
