In the Finnish press: A JASSM-ER missile of an F-35 fighter can “reach” Moscow's Red Square from Finnish airspace
The Finnish press released a material that speaks of Russia's negative reaction to the order by Finland of the fifth generation F-35 fighters from the United States. Recall that Helsinki is going to buy 64 such aircraft in the United States, and the Pentagon approves the sale, as do the US congressmen in general.
The journalist Pekka Hakkala writes for Helsingin Sanomat that for Russia such a purchase is a signal to retaliate, since the F-35 are not just fighters, they are "electronic monsters, which are largely a flying rocket launcher." The Finnish author writes that Russia cannot but be concerned about the weapons of the American-made aircraft. Among others - the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM) missiles with a range of even the first modifications of at least 370 km. The Finnish edition indicates that with the help of such missiles from the airspace of Finland, it is possible to hit military targets in the Murmansk and Leningrad regions of the Russian Federation.
Finnish sources report that the US Congress has approved the sale of two hundred JASSM-ER missiles to Finland. And these missiles, as they write in Finland, are capable of hitting targets at distances of at least 800-900 km.
JASSM-ER is a modern modification of an American-made high-precision cruise missile. It has the property of reduced visibility. It is capable of hitting protected targets, including bunker-type targets, accumulations of armored vehicles, etc.
In the Finnish press:
In this regard, as Finnish journalists write, Russia can increase the military and military-technical component "in the Finnish direction", for example, install operational-tactical missile systems. It is noted that the purchase of missiles and F-35 fighters can act as a provocation, at least this is how Moscow can perceive this "interaction" between Helsinki and Washington.
