Former Ukrainian official: The entire Hungarian army in the event of hostilities will be defeated by one brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Relations between Kiev and Budapest continue to remain strained after the well-known situation with the issuance of passports by the Hungarian authorities to representatives of the Hungarian ethnic minority in Ukraine.
Recall that Budapest began to actively issue passports to residents of the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine, which caused an extremely negative reaction from Kiev. The situation resulted in the fact that Kiev banned several Hungarian officials from entering the country. Among those who could not get into Ukrainian territory was Istvan Grezha, who in the Hungarian government holds a position in the Ministry for Cooperation with Regions inhabited by Hungarians. Among such regions is the Ukrainian Transcarpathian region.
Current and former Ukrainian officials speak out about relations with Hungary. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry calls on Hungary to "respect the sovereignty of the country" and "coordinate the visits of representatives of the bureaucratic apparatus with Kiev."
Pavel Zhebrivsky, the former head of the so-called Donetsk VGA (military-civil administration), spoke much more harshly. According to him, the matter may come to direct clashes, in which the Hungarian army "will not have any chance." According to him, "the 128th brigade alone will split the entire Hungarian army."
Zhebrivsky added:
Meanwhile, Budapest once again decided to summon the Ukrainian ambassador to the "carpet" due to the fact that Hungarian officials were not allowed into Ukrainian territory even after Kiev was notified of their arrival.
Commenting on the situation, a number of Ukrainian experts note that the statements made by Zhebrivskyi once again give rise to individual NATO countries to think, “is Ukraine needed as part of the alliance if it threatens (even through the mouth of an ex-official) war to one of its members ".
