Modernization of 203-mm self-propelled guns 2S7M "Malka" within the framework of the state defense order completed
The Ministry of Defense has received the last batch of Malka 203-mm self-propelled howitzers that have undergone a major overhaul with modernization. This was reported by the press service of Uraltransmash.
According to the report, Uraltransmash has completed the delivery of overhauled and modernized 2S7M Malka self-propelled howitzers to the military, thereby fully fulfilling the state defense order. The number of modernized equipment is not named, it is emphasized that all of it has already been transferred to the military.

Then, too, there was no information about the amount of equipment transferred, only the fact of sending the ACS to the military was stated. As already reported, the modernization was carried out at Uraltransmash, work was carried out on the equipment to replace the gearbox, distribution mechanisms and power supply units. Replaced observation devices and guidance system, intercom equipment and radio station. The complex of anti-nuclear protection has been updated. Now it is possible to aim at a target using a UAV.
The 2S7M "Malka" with a 2A44 cannon of 203 mm caliber is capable of firing various types of ammunition, including active-reactive and special ammunition with a nuclear warhead. Large-caliber self-propelled guns were once developed as a means of a possible tactical nuclear strike. The first modification - 2S7 "Pion" - has been in operation since 1975, the modernized version - 2S7M - since 1986.
The combat weight of the 2S7M "Malka" in the previous layout was 46,5 tons, the crew was 6 people, the radio station R-173 was used, the ammunition carried was 8 rounds, the self-propelled gun was brought into combat position within 7 minutes.
