US State Department hopes to find common ground with Moscow in Ukraine

Recently, the Ukrainian issue has become very acute. But the US State Department hopes to find a common language with Moscow on the issue of de-escalation of the situation around Ukraine.
This opinion was expressed by the American Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in an interview with the Swedish television company Sveriges Television.
He believes that Russia will not resort to aggression against Ukraine, but will prefer diplomatic methods to resolve controversial issues between Moscow and Kiev. At the same time, he called on Putin to withdraw his military from the Ukrainian borders.
I really hope that Russia will choose to follow the path of de-escalation and withdraw its troops
- said the US Secretary of State.
Blinken noted that the Kremlin can count on Washington's help in resolving the issue of de-escalating the situation. At the same time, he noted that the solution to the problem of Donbass is possible through the implementation of the agreements signed in Minsk.
And in a conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Blinken threatened him with "serious consequences" in the event of "aggressive actions" by Moscow towards Ukraine, the likelihood of which, according to the US Secretary of State, is very high. He drew this conclusion on the basis that today's rise in tensions closely resembles the one that took place in 2014. After that, Crimea became Russian.
