China's plans to build a second naval base in Africa raise concerns for the United States
The United States is concerned about China's plans to build a second military base in Africa. Washington fears that Beijing's activity on the African continent may interfere with US plans.
US intelligence received information about China's intention to build a new naval base on the Atlantic coast of Africa. According to preliminary data, Beijing is considering Equatorial Guinea as a likely country where the PLA warships intend to deploy, and the first steps in this direction have already been taken. The thing is that in the city of Bata there is a seaport, completely built by China, and it is there that the construction of a naval base is planned, which will provide an opportunity to replenish stocks of the PLA naval ships that entered the Atlantic Ocean.
The appearance of China's second military base in Africa, and even on the Atlantic coast, greatly alarmed the American military, who have their own views on Africa. In this regard, Washington has already "made it clear" to the government of Equatorial Guinea that it may be more expensive to "befriend" China, so it is necessary to maintain relations with Washington and follow all instructions coming from the White House. In other words, the US State Department has already warned Africans about the risks to the country's national security due to relations with the Chinese.
Note that China already has one naval base in Africa, it is located on the territory of the state of Djibouti on the coast of the Gulf of Aden. In addition, again according to American intelligence, China intends to deploy a number of military bases, not only naval, but also land based. The Chinese are showing great interest in the Asia-Pacific region, Africa and Central and Central Asia. Among the countries that the Chinese are eyeing, and possibly already negotiating, are Indonesia and Thailand, Kenya, Angola, Tanzania, Pakistan and Tajikistan, as well as the United Arab Emirates.
