Kuleba: NATO's doors are still closed for us, as the three countries of the alliance perceive Ukraine as an addition to Russia
NATO's doors are still closed to Kiev, as the three countries of the North Atlantic Alliance perceive Ukraine as an addition to Russia. The road will be open when they change their position.
This "deep" thought was expressed by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba in an interview with the Latvian portal Sargs.
- said Kuleba.
When asked by a representative of the Latvian media about which states the minister had in mind, he said that it would be non-diplomatic to name them. But he believes that these countries will stop considering Kiev from the point of view of their relationship with Russia, and will begin to perceive Ukraine as a sovereign and independent power. Then everything will happen.
Until this happens, not the doors for joining the alliance will be open for Kiev, but the windows for cooperation with it. Thus, if we follow the logic of Kuleba, now Ukraine can only look into these windows and try to be noticed through them.
Ukrainian experts, meanwhile, suggested that we could talk about countries such as Germany, Hungary and Slovakia. Others name Turkey among these countries.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg said that the countries of the alliance do not yet have a consensus on when exactly Ukraine can be provided with the MAP - a membership action plan, which determines a specific date for the country's entry into the military bloc.
