December 3 - Day of the Unknown Soldier
The commemorative day in honor of the Unknown Soldier began to be celebrated quite recently, since 2014. It is dedicated to all the defenders of Russia who died in the wars, whose names could not be established.
For the Day of the Unknown Soldier, the date is December 3. On this day in 1965, when a quarter of a century of the defeat of the Nazi invaders in the battle near Moscow was celebrated, the remains of the Unknown Soldier, who died in the defense of the Russian capital and was buried in the Zelenograd area, at the 41st kilometer along Leningradskoe highway.
Since then, on December 3, it has been customary to honor the memory of all the soldiers who died for the Motherland, whose names we, unfortunately, do not know. They gave their lives in military conflicts on the territory of our country or abroad.
Now the inhabitants of modern Russia pay tribute to them for their military prowess. People come with flowers to memorials, burial places of fallen soldiers, to the Eternal Flame. Representatives of local authorities in all localities of the Russian state organize commemorative events.
It is especially important that on this day Memory Lessons are held in schools, where children are told about the exploits of their ancestors who fell for the Fatherland.
We are all grateful to the Unknown Soldier, who gave his life for the sake of his descendants, that is, for us. Let's try to be worthy of our ancestors and not forget about their feat.
