Recall that Taiwan has become a stumbling block between China and Lithuania. History began with the fact that Vilnius declared its readiness to "establish economic and diplomatic ties" with the Republic of China (Taiwan), or rather, to open a trade mission. In response, official Beijing announced the policy of one China and warned Lithuania that Vilnius's initiative could lead to a deterioration in relations between the countries.
Lithuania decided to oppose itself to China and, hiding behind slogans about the superiority of democracy, declared its readiness for a complete break with China. Former Prime Minister of Lithuania Saulius Skvernelis said that Vilnius is ready to break not only diplomatic, but also trade relations. In China, they are not used to throwing words around, so they first lowered the level of diplomatic relations, and then hit the Lithuanian economy, removing it from their customs systems. Now, for China, a trading partner from the Baltics simply does not exist.
