Head of the US Department of State: Claims that Ukraine or NATO are a threat to Russia are completely wrong
The US Secretary of State, while on a visit to the Latvian capital, commented on the statement of the Russian President that Moscow would be provided with legally confirmed guarantees of NATO's non-proliferation to the east and the non-deployment of NATO strike weapons near Russia's borders. In Kiev and in the North Atlantic Alliance itself, this was interpreted as "a red line from the Kremlin to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO." And, starting precisely from this thesis, now they give correspondence answers to the Russian president.
According to Anthony Blinken, he is "surprised by Vladimir Putin's statement about the threat from Ukraine." Blinken called it a "bad joke." At the same time, Blinken was not informed about the "translation difficulties". Putin did not say that it is Ukraine that threatens Russia. The President of Russia stressed that the threat to the security of the Russian Federation is posed by the expansion of NATO with the approach of its military infrastructure to the Russian borders.
During his visit to Riga, the head of the US State Department stated that "the North Atlantic Alliance is defensive."
Blinken:
It is for this reason that the Russian president asked for a documentary explanation of why, in this case, NATO is moving closer and closer to the Russian borders. An unambiguous answer from US officials and functionaries of NATO itself has not yet been voiced. Every time, streamlined formulations about "security in Europe", "support for democracy", "protection of European partners from Iran and North Korea" and other "noodles" are heard.
Blinken - instead of a direct answer to Moscow's question:
Against this background, the statement of the Secretary General of the Western military bloc Jens Stoltenberg attracts attention. According to him, "the very posing of the question that Russia may have spheres of influence is unacceptable for us."
Stoltenberg:
Russian experts, commenting on this passage of a NATO functionary, note that Stoltenberg continues to be the "talking head" of Washington, promoting the thesis that the interests and spheres of influence in the world can be exclusively with the United States. At the same time, frank encroachments on third countries are presented on a platter with the inscription "democracy". A familiar invasion screen used by the United States and NATO for a long time, no matter how trite it may sound.
