The Armed Forces of Ukraine may be armed with a "deeply modernized" command tank T-64BVK. Work on a tank held at the Kharkov Armored Plant.
According to the press service of "Ukroboronprom", KHBTZ specialists carried out a deep modernization of the T-64BVK command tank, during which they significantly improved its characteristics. It is emphasized that the updated machine has already passed successful tests. Currently, the plant is working on the modernization of a whole batch of T-64 tanks, but with one caveat - they carry out "similar work", but not a similar modernization.
As follows from the message, as part of the work carried out on the T-64BVK tank, modern observation devices, including thermal imaging devices, a rear hemisphere observation system and a satellite navigation complex were installed. The tank commander received a commander's cupola with enhanced protection for the NSVT machine gun and a surveillance camera. Protected rear-view mirrors were installed on the tank, the protection of the fuel tanks was strengthened, the front of the turret was covered with rubber-metal shields. Lighting devices and communication equipment were also replaced.
KhBTZ said that the T-64BVK, which had undergone a deep modernization, has become "much more effective" in the conditions of modern combat. It is emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces requires a large number of modernized tanks against the backdrop of "Russian aggression".
Our main task is to provide the Ukrainian army with reliable and updated military equipment.
- said the director of the plant German Smetanin.
