Modernized ballistic missile systems "Ball" with X-35 anti-ship missiles of increased range will cover the Black Sea
The Ministry of Defense is preparing to deliver a modernized version of the Bal coastal missile system with an extended-range missile. The complex is currently being tested.
In the near future, coastal defense units will begin to receive the upgraded Bal ballistic missile systems with an extended-range Kh-35 missile. Currently, the complex is completing tests, missile combat launches were carried out on the Black Sea and North fleets... The characteristics of the new missile were not disclosed, but as stated, the range exceeded 300 km.
As reported "News" With reference to military sources, the Ministry of Defense has already decided on the locations of the modernized missile systems. First, the military department plans to close the most dangerous direction - the southern one. To this end, the upgraded DBKs will receive the coastal missile brigade stationed in the Crimea. The complexes will cover the Black Sea.
Then the DBKs will enter service with the Northern Fleet, deliveries will be carried out as the state defense order is fulfilled.
Note that recently, the Ministry of Defense has been devoting quite a lot of time to strengthening the coastal defense. Recently, an exercise was held, within the framework of which the military worked out the transfer of the Bal and Bastion missile launchers from one fleet to another. The military department emphasized that coastal missile systems can create an in-depth defense of a large section of the coast, destroying enemy ships at a great distance.
BRK "Bastion" is more long-range, it is capable of striking the anti-ship missile "Onyx" at a distance of up to 600 km. DBK "Ball" covers the near approaches. The X-35 anti-ship missile system, which is in service with the complex, is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 300 km, and the modernized one - and over 300.
