"Collided with an unknown object": The Ukrainian Navy vessel U-811 "Balta" was damaged in the Black Sea
The naval forces of Ukraine almost lost the only demagnetizing vessel in the Ukrainian fleet... According to the press service of the Ukrainian Navy, the U-811 Balta was damaged during a storm in the Black Sea.
According to the available information, the ship was off the Serpentine Island. Due to the sharp deterioration of the weather, "Balta" was damaged and lost speed. Details of the incident are not given, according to official sources, nothing serious happened there, and judging by publications in social networks with links to sailors in distress, at least two compartments were flooded near the ship, i.e. there is a serious hole.

On the official page of the Ukrainian Navy on Facebook, it is indicated that the Balta is anchored, a fight for survivability is under way, and the forces and means of the Ukrainian fleet, border guards and rescuers have been sent to help. At the time of writing news there were no more messages, how the operation to rescue the vessel ended is unknown.
The demagnetizing vessel U-811 "Balta" has been a member of the Ukrainian Navy since 1997. It was originally called "SR-568" and was part of the Black Sea Fleet of the USSR. Built in Poland, delivered to the customer in 1987. Last year, dock repairs took place at one of the shipbuilding enterprises in Ukraine. This is the only vessel of this type in the Ukrainian fleet.
