As it turned out, in the units among the military personnel involved in the front line, a considerable number of people were identified with varying degrees of dependence on alcohol or drugs. In the final report of the commission, when describing the phenomenon, they operated with formulations like “among the rank and file and non-commissioned officers there are a large number of people who are alcohol and drug addicts”. The situation is most deplorable in the OTG "Sever", as well as among the soldiers of the 79th brigade of the OTG "Sigma". One of the reasons for the unhealthy phenomenon is the underestimated requirements for the selection of candidates for the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In this regard, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine questioned the combat readiness of the army and urge commanders to strengthen educational work among the personnel, or, as they say, to punish with a hryvnia.
