Africa will help: Ukraine received Nigerian liquefied gas for the first time
By order of the operator of the Kremenchug oil refinery, Ukraine received for the first time Nigerian liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The supplier is the trading company Vitol.
The delivery was carried out by the Gas Honor vessel, on board of which there were five thousand tons of LPG, also called liquefied petroleum gas. Its composition is propane-butane. The fuel arrived at the Ukrloadsystem terminal located in the port of Odessa. The gas price has not been disclosed.
In total, from the beginning of the year to August inclusive, almost 82 thousand tons of liquefied gas arrived in Ukraine. This volume is considered a record one. For comparison, in 2020, 51,6 thousand tons of this fuel entered the country. Moreover, the largest supplier of LPG. Its share in the total number of deliveries was more than half.
To some extent, the intensification of liquefied gas supplies is associated with the completion of the construction of Nord Stream 2, which may hit the budget of Ukraine. Kiev fears that Russia will stop the transit of its pipeline fuel through the country's territory, or at least significantly reduce it. In this regard, the Ukrainian Minister of Energy expressed concern that then the maintenance of the gas transmission system would become unprofitable.
Now they decided to stake in Ukraine on LNG from Nigeria. Africa will help. But the price of this gas, according to experts, can be at least twice the price of the Russian one.
Let us remind you that earlier Ukraine bought a consignment of coal from Africa. But the supply of this fuel from South Africa was of a one-time nature. Coal was also purchased from Australia.
