Africa will help: Ukraine received Nigerian liquefied gas for the first time

160

By order of the operator of the Kremenchug oil refinery, Ukraine received for the first time Nigerian liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The supplier is the trading company Vitol.

The delivery was carried out by the Gas Honor vessel, on board of which there were five thousand tons of LPG, also called liquefied petroleum gas. Its composition is propane-butane. The fuel arrived at the Ukrloadsystem terminal located in the port of Odessa. The gas price has not been disclosed.

In total, from the beginning of the year to August inclusive, almost 82 thousand tons of liquefied gas arrived in Ukraine. This volume is considered a record one. For comparison, in 2020, 51,6 thousand tons of this fuel entered the country. Moreover, the largest supplier of LPG. Its share in the total number of deliveries was more than half.

To some extent, the intensification of liquefied gas supplies is associated with the completion of the construction of Nord Stream 2, which may hit the budget of Ukraine. Kiev fears that Russia will stop the transit of its pipeline fuel through the country's territory, or at least significantly reduce it. In this regard, the Ukrainian Minister of Energy expressed concern that then the maintenance of the gas transmission system would become unprofitable.

Now they decided to stake in Ukraine on LNG from Nigeria. Africa will help. But the price of this gas, according to experts, can be at least twice the price of the Russian one.

Let us remind you that earlier Ukraine bought a consignment of coal from Africa. But the supply of this fuel from South Africa was of a one-time nature. Coal was also purchased from Australia.

            to say "swag" correctly

Maybe .. Although the word "bakshish" was well understood by the merchants and gave a small gift for the purchase. Where this word came from, I have no idea. But everyone used it.
And here I have seen examples of this supposedly "madness" many times in our country. Even under the USSR. And now it’s rather the norm. The head of the OKS (capital construction department) of any state enterprise signs incredible inflated estimates, throwing away a lot of money. Although in everyday life for his own house, he is the first-class one, capable of deceiving and leaving any contractor with his nose. Some kind of selective "madness".

This is called sabotage, or in simple terms - to make it as bad as possible, only to make the "reg" fall. In our country, all oppas in Belarus do this - they try to inflict maximum damage on the state (depending on the position held), only for the people to rise up and overthrow Lukashenka, so they openly say - you need to do as WORSE as possible ..

Come on ... laughing It's called easier - a bribe. What a nafig "regime", "struggle". The money from the budget is divided between the bosses from the customer and the office - the executor. And all the so-called "tenders" are famously bypassed by additional small contracts. Under the guise of coal from Australia, coal mainly came from the Donbass (LPNR) with loading in Russian ports, about this scheme of Akhmetov to divorce the budget, a scandal arose in their press and the parliament more than once. Why Australian?
        It's more expensive.
Coal comes from Donbass at a very low price, and having turned it into Australian, the price immediately skyrockets and you can at the same time raise the price for e-mail. energy, heating, etc. - this is all Akhmetov's business.

the rinatka is to blame for everything.

One of the leading oligarchs in that part of the land. It is a group of such people that determines the internal policy of this unfortunate country, of course, within the framework of what is permitted to them from the real owners of this territory, who do not live in it.
It's just that Akhmetov, in addition to metallurgy, also has most of the thermal energy under control. And coal mining. Since the 90s, production and financial chains have been built that should work. Coal plays a leading role in this segment of the energy sector, many boiler houses have been converted from gas to coal - and this is already income from heating.
And it doesn't matter where the coal comes from, from Russia, Poland, Africa, Australia or from the separated Donbass. If the financing of the electric power industry comes from the budget (and the government at the same time raises the prices for electricity), then the supplier of this energy is more interested in that this price is as high as possible, and the cost of purchasing / extracting coal, as low as possible.
And if the cheapest way is to get coal from Donbass, then it will go from Donbass, through gasket firms and declaring it as: African, American or Australian.
And the gas that came to Odessa came from Israel. And this is propane-butane - motor fuel for cars and for refueling gas cylinders. The terminal in Odessa belongs to the Privat group, as well as the gas station network. This is just a modest business of the Dnipropetrovsk oligarchs.

And no one there is "to blame", just the country (former), and now the territory, belongs to completely different people. And the goals that these owners set, and the plans that they are building for her ... do not fit into the understanding of "national interests", "sovereign state", "the interests of the population ... And if we take into account that the receiving terminal in Odessa belongs to the Privat group, then everything is all the more clear and banal - propane-butane is a motor fuel for cars and for refueling gas cylinders. The Privat Group owns gas station networks, it is their modest business, and has nothing to do with providing the state and industry with natural gas. This is a gas for a purely niche use.

Summer is red ... they didn't have time to look back ...
According to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, as of September 16, instead of 1,5 million tons of gas coal, there were 600 thousand tons at TPPs, and instead of 552 thousand tons of anthracite - 215 thousand tons. At the same time, the stocks in the warehouses of the three stations of the state-owned company "Centrenergo" were below the minimum required and they should have been enough to work for 4-14 days. If there is a shortage of coal, some of the thermal power plant units can be converted to gas. However, its price on the Ukrainian energy exchange is already reaching UAH 25 thousand per thousand cubic meters (more than $ 900 per thousand cubic meters)

DTEK has agreed on the supply of 2 batches of thermal coal from the United States with a total volume of 150 thousand tons. The question is that the vessel is filled with LPG (propane-butane, which is used to fill the cylinders), and LNG is methane ... there are different prices and volumes ...

A very correct observation. LPG and LNG are completely different things, both in terms of properties, and, accordingly, in terms of application. LPG - propane, isobutane and n-butane. Motor fuel and raw materials for gas chemistry (I will not say whether it will be used for the Odessa Port Plant). Liquefies at -50 - 0 degrees. LNG is methane liquefied at a temperature of -160 degrees. This is a completely different equipment for regasification and completely different agreements with Turkey for the passage of the Bosphorus. I remember earlier Ukraine and Romania were going to install regasification units for themselves (Romanians - on the shore, Ukrainians - a regasification vessel, like Lithuania), but they did not succeed, because they did not agree with the Turks. So the voiced calculations on LNG in Nigeria smell more like blatant disinformation or bluff. Who else is more profitable ... laughing In addition, it should be borne in mind that, for example, "Independence" - a floating regasification unit as part of the Klaipeda regasification terminal (Lithuania), according to its technical characteristics, when operating all 8760 hours per year, it can regasify only 4 billion cubic meters of gas per year. This is about 40 tankers of the volume of "Christophe Margerie" .... To balance the balance, Ukraine needs a plus of 12-14 billion cubic meters to its own production. So this floating regasifier will not save Ukraine, and the Turks will not agree to 40 LNG carriers through Istanbul. In addition to Russia, no one is able to save them (Ukrainians) .... But Ukraine is doing everything to ensure that Russia has minimal motivation for this. Greetings to them from Lavrov laughing

This is not LNG. It's a big red gas can. Well, again, large relative to the standard 50 liter. And if you compare it with an LNG "tanker", then this is a scow. Turks do not let such troughs in the Bosphorus

As far as I remember, a propane-butane mixture is used when cutting metal. Really, they are going to cut their gas turbine system. God help them fellow

Oh, those journalists. Mixed in a bunch:
Liquefied petroleum gas (propane-butane) is the one that the cars are fueled with. It is not used for pumping into pipes: it is too expensive for that. It is a product of oil refining.
Liquefied natural gas is a gas (mainly methane). It is obtained by the method of liquefying natural gas at low temperatures. To "import" it, you need special equipment for degasification. It is expensive and there is no such terminal in Ukraine. Yes, and Turkey will not let the gas carrier into the Black Sea.
So the journalist mixed everything together and created a sensation out of nothing.

Except for Russia, no one is able to save them (Ukrainians) ...

You just need to reduce consumption by the same 12-14 billion cubic meters and that's it. in fact, only by a third, just restructuring part of the industry, or even the whole whole, their black soil has not yet been completely sold, it will not be lost.
As in Crimea, it was necessary to abandon rice and other water-demanding crops.

I wonder how the country, left without Russian gas, most of the coal mines and planning to ditch the rest, has already destroyed and sold a significant part of the forests to the EU for a pittance, is going to survive?
On imports from the EU at sky-high prices for Russian gas?
On a completely idiotic idea of a country that asked ... the entire sea and river fleet to buy coal "in the distant kingdom, the thirtieth state" - already in South Africa and, of course, from overseas owners in the United States?
In a year or two, they will finally finish off the remnants of railway transport.
How to transport overseas coal from ports?
You definitely won't have to transport coal from Poland ...

I don't understand anything: does Turkey allow gas carriers through the Bosphorus? It seems that there has been a ban for a long time?

    Propane-Butane is a non-liquefied natural gas (LNG).

so it seems that the Turks do not allow gas carriers through the Bosphorus. How did the liquefied gas end up in the port of Odessa?

There is no cross on them. Now the blacks will have gas. They (blacks) are already having a hard time, and then Ukraine is a trading partner.

This is propane-butane, not LNG. LNG is liquefied natural gas, i.e. methane, and these are completely different things. This African gas, as far as I understand, can only be poured into household cylinders in cars. Neither for the housing and communal services, nor for the industry there is no sense from it.
But in order to purchase LNG, it is also necessary to build a liquefaction plant in order to return it to a gaseous state and run it into a pipe to consumers. And it is worth it, oh, how expensive. So all this is about nothing ... Another zilch.

Coal was also purchased in Australia, and now it has been decided to stake in Ukraine on LNG from Nigeria. Africa will help. But the price of this gas, according to experts, can be at least twice the price of Russian gas.

Probably Ukraine is the richest country, since it makes such transactions.

Money loves washing. Israeli Jews have been resting for a long time, and local, Ukrainian ones, will not be allowed into Israel.
Even the iron kumpol will not save them from them. Only a saucepan.

In Banderland, cylinders for domestic needs are refueled at gas stations, so that everything will go to work. The question is the price - the cheaper the better.

We also have gas stations. Where do they run in Russia?
