The ex-president of Georgia announced the benefits of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline for Ukraine
49
Former President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili said that the completion of the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline should be seen as beneficial for Ukraine. At the moment, Saakashvili, we recall, is the head of the executive committee of the Ukrainian reform committee. Earlier, under the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, for some time he served as head of the Odessa Regional State Administration. He is wanted by the Georgian authorities as a person involved in several criminal cases, including the case of abuse of office.
According to Mikhail Saakashvili, the benefit of Nord Stream 2 for Ukraine is that now the country "will have the opportunity to focus on producing its own gas." The ex-head of the Odessa Regional State Administration added that now Ukrainians will not only become more active in producing their own gas, but will also learn to save it. Thus, Saakashvili made it clear that in recent years Ukraine has been using gas of foreign (Russian) origin to a greater extent, and this use has been very wasteful.
At the same time, Saakashvili said that in the long term, the SP-2 gas pipeline is a "terrible thing":
In the event of a Russian attack on Ukraine, the West will simply refuse to support the Ukrainian side. This is the danger of the gas pipeline. But, as I said, now there will be some economic benefits from it.
We will remind that earlier in Kiev it was stated that in recent decades, Moscow "prevented Ukraine from producing its own gas." And now, supposedly, Ukraine has gained freedom in terms of producing its own gas.
