The United States will consider the option of transferring the Israeli anti-aircraft system "Iron Dome" to Ukraine
Ukraine may receive new missile and air defense systems, including the Israeli Iron Dome system. According to the office of the President of Ukraine, the corresponding decision may be made by the US Congress.
An amendment was made to the 2022 budget in the US Congress, according to which the Pentagon must provide US congressmen with options for transferring or selling air defense / missile defense systems to Ukraine. It is emphasized that the supply of anti-aircraft systems to Kiev is provided for in a new amendment on the proposal to allocate $ 275 million to Ukraine as military assistance.
The American publication Politico notes that the United States may transfer the Iron Dome anti-aircraft system to Ukraine, which did not fit into the American missile defense system due to incompatibility. The complex was purchased to protect American military bases in Afghanistan, but due to recent events, the need for it has disappeared. So the option with Ukraine is quite viable, the United States gets rid of the unnecessary complex, and Ukraine gets the coveted anti-aircraft system.
Meanwhile, the office of the President of Ukraine has already stated that "receiving an anti-aircraft system" (only it has not yet been received ...) is the merit of Volodymyr Zelensky, who visited Washington and managed to convey to American lawmakers the problem of the lack of air defense systems against the background of constant "Russian threats ".
