US builds $ 1,7 billion dry dock for nuclear submarines

22

The US Navy launches a new project. On their initiative, a $ 1,7 billion dry dock is being built in the United States for nuclear submarines.

Last week, a ceremony was held at the Portsmouth Naval Dockyard to commence construction of a dry dock for the US Navy's nuclear attack submarines. The project, which will take seven years to complete, will add two compartments to the existing dry dock, increasing its ability to upgrade, service and repair simultaneously up to three Virginia and Los Angeles class submarines. Currently, the dock is only capable of working with old Los Angeles class submarines, which will end in the 2030s. At the same time, the US Navy emphasizes that it is about construction, and not about reconstruction.

Works include pouring concrete floors, installing pumping systems, caissons, and mechanical and electrical systems for the dock.

Naval the fleet we need combat-ready surface ships and submarines to navigate where they are needed and when they are needed, and these major upgrades and reconfigurations at our shipyards will allow the fleet to fulfill its future missions

- said the head of the department for the development of marine systems, Vice Admiral William Galinis, commenting on the beginning of work.

The US Navy currently has four state-owned shipyards, up from 1960 in the 12s. There are currently not enough to service 70 submarines. Because of this, over the past 12 years, overhauls of nuclear attack submarines have typically taken 20 to 40 percent longer than planned, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

And why only for $ 1,7 billion submarines? Can't others be served at this dock?

1,7 billion is the value of the dock

For the United States, which in 2020 poured 9 trillion (9 thousand billion) dollars into the economy, some 1,8 billion dust and no more ..

Over the past 12 years, overhaul of nuclear attack submarines has generally taken 20-40 percent longer than planned.

They also have "effective" managers, they also move the deadlines to the right. Good news.

Americans have such efficient managers that the printing press cannot keep up.

    I would say - inexpensive.
They say that the reconstruction of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow costs so much.
I just thought, what is more important for the country?
    What are the opinions?

It is necessary to ask the Duma this. After all, they listened to the question-
      Apollo shamelessly violates Russian law
about morality. While 1,8 billion green on briefs for Apollo
      a bit too much.

      There is, for example, this:
      a) remove this indecency and shame (quadriga)
      b) to hoist the Shoigu, buttoned up with all the buttons (it is possible in granite)
      c) install the BRK "Bastion-P" at the back, it is possible in kind
(after all, in the capital of the five seas)
$ 1,8 billion should be enough.

It’s strange. Moose climb in, but the maiden didn’t. They have a difference of 5-6 meters in length.

And to lengthen the dock even by 10 meters, you need $ 1.7 billion?
And after that they say that they are stealing / sawing in Russia? And in the United States, then, are they carrying suitcases?
If anything, the entire SP-2 cost $ 9.5 billion, two lines of almost 1300 km of pipes + compressor stations, plus laying pipes in the sea. And moreover, they saved 200 million.

And in the United States, then, are they carrying suitcases?
No, they drive through Visa and Mastercard. Only the trick is
that they "carry" from the US economy to the US economy
"deposit" (well, they don't "bury" in Russian banks)
Also, I suspect they overpay for each
unit (well, the same F-35), and there the development "sits"
next. Well this is if I ordered a suit from
tailor, and along the way asked to think and bungle
something like that for me, not tomorrow, but so, for the future
(and what will be the fashion then ??) Well, you are a master, think,
experiment, and I'll pay well (you can at least km
cut different tissues into rags and stitch them with a laser)

Already in his voice he sobbed from the patriotism of American thieves. We would be like that, right? And all sorts of Cayman Islands and other sedimentation tanks probably only live at the expense of the Russian Federation.

I am a Northrop, and you are a Boeing. The government order "weighs" 10 billion.
I (top manager) stole 20% and "buried" in the caimans.
Your Fu-35 won, but mine turned out to be damp.
Immediately the next order, but now only you - 20 billion.
And there will also be a third. And it's time for me to switch to baby carriages.
Who have I robbed? Government, or yourself?

Not certainly in that way. You are Boeing, I am Hawkheed. Together we set a minimum price, below which - dumping is not by definition. We milk the state. Your bankruptcy is not beneficial to me, as well as mine to you. We overestimate the price many times, since the deputies consider the allocation of money to their region as an achievement. And that there is not enough money for everyone - the press will print.
Yes, extra money does not go to the Canary Islands. Americans love to live at home, and this corruption is not a crime, so there is no need to flee. You can invest in development, and pour yourself off. There is a stability of the system, and it is exactly clear how much is needed for what. We work in the same way, we steal in the same way, so no one gets ahead, and the state does not even know that it can be three times cheaper. And if he knew why it was cheaper for him? America is not a welfare state.

Yours is more logical. And the state knows - there was only one 40 years ago
the clever guy put a tree in front of the congress, and hung bolts on it,
nuts, bearings, etc. from the military-industrial complex, and exactly the same from the utility store, but
much cheaper, and the magazines are cunning there.

The Navy needs capable surface ships and submarines to navigate where they are needed and when they are needed, and these major upgrades and reconfigurations at our shipyards will enable the fleet to fulfill its future missions.

Justification Masters. And who will argue with that? And the question of why it should cost so much already somehow fades into the background. And if someone asks, we will paraphrase immediately above: Are you against the combat capability of the fleet?

By the numbers - an excellent optimization. The number of shipyards has decreased by 3 times. and the repair period was lengthened by an average of one third. That is, the efficiency ratio is 1:10.

They build shipyards and docks, and our "leaders" give orders to China (and then drive to St. Petersburg for equipment). Ours are "more efficient".

    Substitution of concepts.
the US Navy has four state Shipyards, whereas in the 1960s there were 12.

Shipyards are not docks. More precisely, not only docks. More precisely, there may not be any docks at the shipyard at all.
People just wanted to expand the stall in order to drive three pieces at a time. The French have had enough ...

That is, the reconstruction of the old dock is now called the construction of a new one? What room for cutting ...
