"F / A-18 Super Hornets are no longer needed": Romanian observer on the end of the "career" of a fighter
The American corporation Boeing is confidently diving down, losing its position in the global and domestic markets.
- the Romanian observer expresses his opinion in the edition of Romania Military.
As indicated, the US Navy has announced that it does not intend to purchase the Super Hornet after fiscal 2022 and will channel the savings into other programs, such as the 6th generation F / A-XX aircraft.
- the author writes.
In his words, if the US Navy has a great desire to acquire a Block III modification, then it is enough to "pull up" the existing F / A-18 E / F to its level. In terms of exports, the situation is even worse: only two countries have purchased Super Hornet Block III (Australia in 2007 and Kuwait in 2018). Perhaps Germany will become the new user of the aircraft. Other customers choose the F-35, Rafale or Gripen.
As the observer points out, the current F / A-18 Super Hornet Block III platform, despite the modernization, is not inconspicuous and cannot integrate future weapon systems, electronic warfare and other "stuffing" that are already under development, "which, according to in fact, it is the end of a fighter's career.
