The ex-head of "Antonov" advised Ukraine to buy American F-15EX fighters
Ukraine needs new fighters; by 2030, the resource of the entire fleet of the Su-27 and MiG-29 in service with the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be exhausted. This was stated by the ex-head of Antonov State Enterprise Alexander Los, writes the Ukrainian edition of Defense Express.
The fleet of fighters available to Ukraine is significantly outdated; by 2030, the aircraft's resource will be fully developed. Despite the ongoing overhaul and modernization, the Ukrainian MiG-29 and Su-27 are already obsolete Soviet-made aircraft. Therefore, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine needs a new fighter in the future.
According to the ex-head of Antonov, the stake should be placed not on the fifth generation fighter, but on the fourth, widely used in NATO countries. The best choice, according to Elk, would be the American F-15EX, a fighter capable of carrying a large payload. At the same time, he stressed, no one will give Ukraine the F-35, even if it becomes a NATO member. The reason for this is its proximity to Russia, whose radar stations see "inconspicuous objects."
Ukraine alone will not "pull" the new fighters, so it is necessary to create a unified air defense system of the countries under the threat of "Russian aggression", i.e. with Poland and the Baltics. Therefore, when choosing a new aircraft, it is necessary to pay attention to its effectiveness within a single system, and not as a separate unit. Here the F-15EX is best suited, which can operate in tandem with the same F-35 partners of Ukraine.
