The USA confirmed the data on the requirement for 24 diplomats of the Russian Federation to leave the country
Information about Washington's reduction of the situation to the fact that 24 Russian diplomats were actually forced to leave the country at once was confirmed. This information was announced in an interview with the American edition of The National Interest by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the United States of America Anatoly Antonov. Russian diplomatic representatives will leave the United States today - August 3.
According to Anatoly Antonov, almost everyone will leave for Russia without replacement. The reasons for this situation are also named.
It turned out that these diplomats will not be able to continue their work in the United States due to the fact that the American authorities have sharply tightened the procedure for issuing visas.
The ambassador noted that the United States continues the practice of "squeezing out Russian diplomatic staff."
At the same time, experts note that at the moment the Russian Federation is not taking any countermeasures. So far, there is no talk of the expulsion of an equal number of American diplomatic personnel.
Washington commented on the situation, calling it "purely technical." Thus, according to the US State Department spokesman Ned Price, Russian diplomats "must apply to the State Department to extend long-term visas." Valid visas will expire soon. At the same time, the question regarding each diplomat is going to be resolved by the US authorities on an “individual basis”. This may lead to the fact that the visa may be expired, after which entry into the United States for Russian diplomatic personnel may be completely prohibited (based on American laws).
As the visa issue for the 24 diplomats has not yet been considered, Price said they will have to leave the United States.
