Experienced soldiers are leaving the army, but there is no proper number of recruits - in Poland they spoke about the state of the troops
The Polish Ministry of Defense states that the current size of the country's armed forces "is not optimal for confronting complex threats." Earlier, the head of the Polish military department, Mariusz Blaszczak, said that the best option is a 250-strong Polish Armed Forces, including a 50-strong contingent of territorial defense forces. However, now, as it turns out, the rate of increase in the number of troops does not reach the planned level.
Polish observer Marek Kotsubal writes about the state of the troops with reference to the report on the execution of the budget in terms of national defense.
Kotsubal:
An author in the Polish press writes that if the trend continues, the number of troops may decline in the coming years. It may well reach the point that there will be no one to pass on the accumulated professional experience.
It is indicated that at the moment the number of directly military personnel in the Polish Armed Forces is significantly less than the number of military personnel in the armies of other countries of the continent, including not only Britain, France and Germany, but also Ukraine.
In Poland, they see the problem in the fact that young people today are not attracted to military service. In a country in civilian life, you can be more financially successful than in the army. In addition, Polish youth are "scared" away from service by the fact that in the end, as part of the combined NATO contingent, one can end up far outside Poland, as it has already happened in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now the Polish military contingent has been withdrawn from these countries, but in Poland they believe that NATO may well find another option for the "extraterritorial" deployment of Polish troops.
