The United States intends to "seek" a reduction in the nuclear arsenals of Russia and China. The corresponding statement was made by the new deputy head of the State Department for arms control and international security Bonnie Jenkins.
Jenkins, who took office, pledged to "reduce the risk of nuclear war" through effective arms control on her Twitter page. She also intends to seek to reduce the nuclear arsenal of Russia and China - the main geopolitical opponents of the United States. At the same time, not a word about the reduction of the US nuclear arsenal. Apparently this, in her opinion, looks like the American version of global strategic stability.
I am determined to reduce the risk of nuclear war through effective arms control, limitation of nuclear (potentials - approx.) Russia and China, (...)
Jenkins said, adding that Washington needs to strengthen its position in Europe and Asia to contain "growing threats."
Jenkins did not explain what methods the new US Undersecretary of State intends to achieve from Moscow and Beijing, but promised to provide new initiatives on strategic stability in the near future.
By the way, at the forthcoming consultations between Russia and the United States on strategic stability in Geneva, scheduled for July 28, the American delegation will be headed by Bonnie Jenkins. Russian - Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov. Probably, it is there that she will begin attempts to "reduce" the Russian nuclear potential.
