Nicaragua is interested in the further development of relations with Russia in the military-technical field. This was announced on Saturday from Managua in a telephone interview with a correspondent. ITAR-TASS commander of the country's army, Julio Cesar Aviles.
"Nicaragua is ready to develop cooperation with Russia not only in the military-technical sphere, but also in other areas," Aviles said. He pointed to the "great importance of assistance" that his country renders to the Russian Federation in various directions.
Aviles emphasized that in the past on the eve of the celebrations of the 33 anniversary of the establishment of the armed forces of Nicaragua in Managua, the only officially invited foreign representative was a delegation from Russia. It was headed by Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Colonel-General Alexander Postnikov.

ITAR-TASS Postnikov said that during the visit of the Russian delegation to Nicaragua, negotiations were held with representatives of the leadership of the Central American country. During the dialogue from the Nicaraguan side, "a very positive attitude towards the prospects for the further development of relations with the Russian Federation" was expressed.
During the visit of Russian representatives, "President of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega and the commander of the army noted the role of the Russian Federation in the development of bilateral relations," Postnikov noted. According to him, in the course of the talks held, readiness to expand cooperation was expressed. In particular, this applies to plans to prepare the Nicaraguan military in Russian universities.
