"Time to stop chasing Su fighters": Indonesian Defense Minister called for "advanced technology"
Indonesia intends to invest heavily in the modernization of its troops in the coming years. For this item of expenditure, the Ministry of Development Planning has been allocated $ 20,7 billion, which is to be spent in 2020-2024.
The head of the department, Suharso Monoarfa, on the pages of the Detik publication, indicated on what these funds will be mainly spent. According to him, there are 514 counties and cities in Indonesia. The 300 battalions at the disposal of the armed forces are insufficient to cover them.
When deploying new units, Suharso urged the Ministry of Defense to equip them with "military equipment with advanced technology", despite the fact that the rearmament process may take many years. As an example of inadequate procurement practice, he cited the acquisition of the Su family fighters, as they are constantly evolving.
- said the Indonesian minister, calling for the transition to ready-made "advanced platforms and technologies."
