The German Bundeswehr may soon receive a new ground-based robotic complex manufactured by Rheinmetall. The Mission Master XT platform complements the Mission Master line of standalone platforms.
The Mission Master family of robotic platforms is designed to support military operations in any terrain and in any weather. The line already includes options for transporting goods, fire support, evacuating the wounded, and conducting reconnaissance.
The new Mission Master XT platform is also designed to accommodate various equipment, but it has one important difference - it also has a diesel engine, while the entire family is equipped with electric motors only.
According to the developers, the new diesel engine allows the platform to cover 750 km at one gas station. The installed lithium-ion batteries, if necessary, provide up to 6 hours of silent operation. The robot itself is designed to move through difficult terrain, besides, it is also a waterfowl.
The Mission Master XT platform weighs 2217 kg, while it can carry up to 1 ton of cargo. It is possible to install any modules on it, both combat and reconnaissance. The control is carried out remotely by the operator or offline. The platform is compatible with NATO's command and control systems. If necessary, a soldier can take over control and operate the platform like a conventional vehicle. For this there is a special joystick and an "emergency" seat.
