The US named the main topics of today's talks between Biden and Putin in Geneva
The American administration reported on the main topics that the presidents of the United States and the Russian Federation will discuss in Geneva today. The meeting of the two leaders will begin, according to White House reports, at about 14:30 Moscow time. At the same time, the Russian-American summit will consist of several stages. At its first stage, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden will hold talks with the participation of foreign ministers and translators. On the second - as part of extended delegations. And after that, the presidents of the two countries, as it is emphasized, if they wish, will be able to talk "one-on-one."
The official representative of the US administration pointed out that one of the topics for the talks should be the restoration of full-fledged diplomatic relations - with the return to work of the ambassadors of Russia and the United States. Biden also plans to discuss cyberattacks, "pointing to attempts at Russian intervention." By the way, an American journalist has already asked Vladimir Putin a question on this topic - the other day. The Russian president responded to it with another proposal to interact with the United States to prevent cyberattacks. Also, Vladimir Putin pointed to the recent cyberattack on one of the major gas pipelines in the United States, as well as to the fact that a certain amount of ransom was even paid to cybercriminals. Putin expressed the hope that the American special services will be able to track who exactly the money was sent and who will try to use it.
An important topic in the conversation between the two presidents, as noted, should be the topic of arms control, the topic of nuclear security. Earlier it was reported that Biden wants the hypersonic weapons that have appeared in Russia to fall under one of the articles of the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty (START).
The White House announced Biden's readiness to point out to Putin "the inadmissibility of interference in the internal affairs of the United States":
Also, the President of the United States, who, as Psaki said earlier, “has been preparing for a meeting with Putin for 50 years,” intends to raise the issue of “forced landing” of the Ryanair plane in Minsk.
