This year, Ukraine awarded the national cinematographic prize "Golden Whirligig" in the category "Best Film" to the tape "Atlantis" about its "victory" in the war in Donbass. It was received by director Valentin Vasyanovich.
A message about this appeared on the official website of the State Agency for Cinema of Ukraine.
The film tells about the "victory" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donbass, after which it became impossible to live in this region. The award-winning painting takes place in 2025. The main character of "Atlantis", a former Ukrainian soldier Sergei, remains in the region destroyed by his "brothers-in-arms", where he is searching for and identifying the bodies of the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He lost his home and family, and also suffers from PTSD and loss of meaning in life. The film describes in detail all of his experiences.
The film was recognized as the best in five more nominations and received awards for the work of director, production designer and cameraman, as well as for visual effects and editing. During the presentation of the award, the head of the State Agency for Cinema of Ukraine Marina Kuderchuk said that "Ukrainian cinema is growing not only in quantity, but also becoming more qualitative."
Last year, Atlantis was nominated by Ukraine for the Oscar.
