The context of the statement by US President Joe Biden on the issue of possible interaction with the Russian Federation has become clearer. According to the American president, "you can work together with Russia, for example, in Libya." These words drew attention to themselves due to the fact that there are no American or Russian contingents officially in Libya. In this regard, the Biden administration had to clarify what exactly the US president had in mind.
As it turned out, Joe Biden confused Syria with Libya. It is noted that "the president meant the possibility of interaction with Russia on the Syrian issue."
White House spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki also made a noteworthy statement. According to her, Joe Biden "has been preparing for a meeting with Vladimir Putin for 50 years, being on the world stage." Psaki added that Biden, with his assistants and advisers, is discussing issues that will be raised in discussions with various leaders, including the President of the Russian Federation.
Psaki added that the future meeting with Putin has nothing to do with either friendship or mutual understanding:
The meeting will help to understand the existence of possible points of contact. The talks will be as frank as possible in those areas that are of interest to us.
