I gave my boss an ultimatum: either he raises my salary, or I quit. We came to a compromise: he doesn’t raise the salary, I don’t quit.
To be honest, what is happening now in our media, in our segment of the Internet, is starting to worry me. Probably, there is no person who, willingly or unwillingly, did not get into the discussions about the rally that took place on Saturday, or the mutiny, or something else. What people with a smart look do not argue about. About children, about the intrigues of Western intelligence services, about our liberals. Moreover, they reason with such surprise, as if what happened was a surprise to them.
Meanwhile, everything that has already been and will soon be quite predictable. This is a normal reaction to the state of society in the EU, the USA and Russia. Reaction to the moral decline of Western society. Ultimately, this is the beginning of an active phase of intervention in the forthcoming elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation this fall.
Activation counting on the usual Russian reaction
It was not for nothing that I started the material with an old anecdote. We are still in an illusory world where there is a conscience, truth, honor, the fulfillment of this word ... We, as children, are surprised that for some reason the Americans did not destroy nuclear warheads, which, according to the treaty, should be destroyed, but on are actually in warehouses. We are surprised at the inconsistency of Germany in relation to the SP-2. We are amazed at the arrival of NATO at our borders. We are surprised ...
For a long time, the West does not consider open and open lies in conversations with Russia to be something out of the ordinary. You can promise anything you want, but you only need to do what is beneficial to the West. Russia will crumple and shut up. What, by and large, has happened and is still happening in reality. I offhand can name five "excuses" according to which "we simply cannot adequately respond to the West." Starting with a weak economy and ending with the small number of our Armed Forces.
Only a blind person does not notice that for several years now the European Union, not to mention the United States, has been showing disregard for Russia's interests. Neglect bordering on bullying. All these accusations against Russia for any reason and for no reason. A sharp increase in sanctions and more. The same Navalny is in fact a rather crude provocation, the purpose of which will be another package of sanctions in mid-February.
Do you know what is the vilest thing in all that we see? The most disgusting thing is that any Russian, no longer thinking about how to avoid sanctions, will answer - no way. Let us bend over this issue, come up with the next one, but there will still be sanctions. And it is true. We are so used to sanctions that we no longer react. I have already read many times in various comments the thesis that Russia has always been under sanctions.
Moreover, we are already quite calmly talking today that we expect provocations from the West. We expect more active exploration from adjacent territories. We expect even military provocations performed by some former brothers in the USSR. Even about a big war, the probability of which has increased many times over, we speak calmly.
And why? Why are we always to blame, according to the West? Why are we always in the position of making excuses? Why did we decide that we need the West more than the West does? We need to sell gas ... Doesn't the EU need to buy gas cheaper? We need Western technologies ... And why are Western technologies better than Asian ones? We depend on Western companies. Are Western companies independent of us? I will not write about the sales market and natural resources.
Sergey Lavrov is right - stop talking to the deaf
We all remember the recent statement by Sergei Lavrov regarding the possible curtailment of relations with the EU. Western media reacted to it quite violently. However, if we go back in time just a little, we can find numerous warnings from the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry about the possibility of such a decision.
Those people who are responsible for foreign policy in the West and do not understand the need for a mutually respectful conversation, perhaps we should just stop communicating with them for a while, especially since Ursula von der Leyen says that geopolitical partnership with the current Russian government will not work ... So be it if they want it. (October 13, 2020)
And so Lavrov said at a press conference following talks with Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic-Radman in Zagreb on December 16, 2020:
We touched upon the situation in relations between the EU and Russia. Our assessment is obvious: all the facts indicate that the European Union as a structure is not ready for normal relations with the Russian Federation.
We talked about it, but as in that joke, we found a compromise. They did nothing ... Which, as it seems to me, pushed the West to take action. All, including ours, politicians are confident that today the situation in the world is such that the West is very interested in cooperation with Russia. But nobody canceled geography and geopolitics.
The time has come to respond toughly to Western claims. If you don't like us, if we are bad, then why should we communicate? The example of the European Parliament will help us. It's time to completely stop the practice of concessions to the demands of Western countries and the United States. The policy should be based on a mutually beneficial basis. Mutually beneficial, and not beneficial only to the West.
Yesterday I read that we have started laying the underwater part of the SP-2 again. And literally in the next message it was said that in Germany they still think about the fate of the stream. A simple question arose - why? Taking care of the Germans? Do we fulfill contracts? Why only we, and not everyone who signed these same agreements? But if the Germans are in doubt, it means that they do not really need the SP-2.
It is not for me to advise the country's leadership on what to do, but I am waiting to see a tough rebuff from our leadership to the attacks of Western countries. Precisely the rebuff. Not words. The "Baltic three-headed newt" croaks - forget about it. Stop feeding and regretting. Poles don't like something - see you in the future. And so in all directions.
I often come across arguments that our officials and politicians allegedly have accounts in Western banks, real estate in the West, and so on. Let me remind you that this issue has long been resolved in Russia. Officials and politicians have been warned that this should not be the case. So all this talk is in favor of the poor. If someone does not understand, then crying about the loss of capital is now silly.
This means that those stoppers that existed among Yeltsin's politicians are gone. Then what prevents us from saying "Fuck you ..."? What prevents to show that today we are not who we were in the era of "Bush's legs"? And our leaders are not the trump cards and the Yeltsins, who were dogs in the pack of the American president.
The West is the same as it has always been
Let me remind you of some recent events that directly affect all Russians. Do you remember the NATO exercises that practiced a nuclear strike against Russia? And what about American B-52s on our borders, in the skies of Ukraine? Estonia's threats to blockade our warships in the Baltic Sea? But all this was quite recently. And this is not a game. These are exercises of military units and formations.
Why it happens? Why are Europeans and Americans not protesting because the deployment of military bases on their territory entails a threat to their lives? To answer this question, I selected a recent article, Russia's Great Wall, by an expert on Russia who was in Kazakhstan and Georgia after the United States and a senior fellow at RAND Corporation, William Courtney, in The Hill.
From its western border with Finland in the north to the border with Georgia in the south, Russia put pressure on its neighbors and forced NATO to deploy more and more military formations near its territories.
I hope the readers have understood that it was not NATO that came to the borders of Russia, but that Russia, increasing its armament, began to threaten the NATO countries. At first glance - delirium. No one will believe this. But if you think about it, the version is quite digestible, if you do not know the chronology of events. Westerners are usually not particularly interested in such nuances.
The pressure that Moscow is putting on its neighbors has forced NATO to strengthen its presence in the immediate vicinity of Russia's borders: the alliance has strengthened its ground forces in Poland, its air and naval forces in Romania, and military patrols in the Baltic and Black Seas. ...
And now NATO appears as a white and fluffy kitten next to a wild bear that wants to devour everyone. Poor Europeans are forced to risk their soldiers to stop the machinations of the wild beast. And again - all it took was to change the chronology of events.
Courtney talks a lot about European countries, but I will focus on Ukraine:
After Russia seized and annexed Ukrainian Crimea in 2014 and unleashed a war in eastern Ukraine that continues to this day, the West began to provide Ukraine with much more military assistance than anyone expected. At present, the number of the armed forces of this country is more than a million troops, and their potential continues to grow.
And now you have received an answer to the second important question that is often heard in our media. The question of "the most powerful army in Europe." The American diplomat opened the eyes of Europeans and our readers to the strength of the Ukrainian army. Naturally, the Americans helped the Ukrainians create such an army. It was $ 1,7 billion of military aid that Washington allocated to Ukraine.
And now I will remind you of one more message that made many readers smile. Major General of the Estonian Army, Commander of the Self-Defense Forces of this country, Martin Herem, demanded to increase military spending in connection with the increased threat of attack from Russia. Quote from the Uudis + show on Vikerraadio:
The eastern neighbor has shown that, given favorable conditions, it is ready to use military force to achieve its goals, for example, in Georgia and Ukraine, and it is clear that Russia's armament is disproportionately large. Therefore, Estonia should increase its defense spending to 6,5% of GDP.
The general urgently needed 6 brigades of ground defense forces, long-range artillery, medium-range air defense systems and warships. This is despite the fact that the population of Estonia is 1 328 976 people as of January 1, 2020. Where the "wind blows" from is clear. Just a few days before this statement, on January 1, 2021, Parliament Speaker Henn Põlluaas announced Estonia's territorial claims against Russia.
How are the former American ambassador and the general of the tiny Lilliput army related? And the connection, as you know, is direct. Remember who barks the most in the yard? Not those dogs that bite, but those that are afraid. Lai as a way to raise your own self-esteem. I will return again to the article from the American edition:
If Russia had not resorted to brute force against its neighbors so often, the NATO alliance would hardly have increased its military presence in the immediate vicinity of Russian borders. If Russia decided to use force against the people of Belarus, NATO would further strengthen its eastern flank. For example, based on the results of its research, the RAND Corporation recommends that NATO deploy brigades in the Baltics, not just battalions.
Only those who respect themselves are respected
Alas, the time of "open palms" has passed a long time ago. How has the time passed when, jumping with happiness, we exchanged "gold nuggets" for Western "glass beads". Sobering up and understanding came. We remembered our ancestors, our achievements, our own dignity, finally.
But those who are accustomed to the fact that "savages" are obliged to prostrate themselves before the West do not want to understand this. By hook or by crook they will do so that their beads continue to be the most desirable gift for us. They will knock our heads together, provoke riots, hoping for the realization of their old dream - the collapse of Russia into small states.
And if we do not want this, then we simply have to defend ourselves. We are obliged to protect our children, women, old people. We must force ourselves to be respected. To force it. The time for persuasion has passed, and the talking shop just got bored. Russia was, is and will be a country to be reckoned with. Otherwise, it is no longer Russia ...
