Iranian Navy unveils new Simorgh strike drone

The Iranian Navy may soon be armed with a new strike unmanned aerial vehicle. Presentation of the new drone, called Simorgh (Simurg), was held on Saturday. It is reported by the Iranian news Tasnim agency.

In the city of Konarak in southeastern Iran, a new Iranian drone, developed in the interests of the country's Navy. The ceremony was attended by Rear Admiral of the Iranian Navy Hossein Khanzadi.

It is reported that the drone was developed on the basis of the Iranian shock UAV model Shahed-129, which has been produced in series since 2013, and represents its "naval version." At the presentation, it was reported that the drone can be used as a reconnaissance, strike or tactical drone.

The declared flight range is up to 1500 km, the duration of stay in the air is up to 24 hours, the practical ceiling is according to some 25 thousand feet (7,62 km), according to others - in the 4,5 area - 5 km. There is no information on the composition of weapons and reconnaissance equipment.

Earlier it was reported that Iran has successfully tested the prototype of the first self-designed Sejil drones. A half life-size prototype was built and successfully tested by the Iranian Ministry of Defense; it is planned to complete the assembly of a full-fledged copy "in the near future".

It was reported that the Sejil UAV is equipped with two jet engines and can reach speeds of up to 1000 km / h. He is also going to be armed with missiles with a firing range of up to 100 km.

It is painted blue above - it means it will fly over the sea.
It looks very rational. Nothing extra. A long wing implies subsonic speed and the ability to circulate for hours over a given area, consuming little fuel.
Interestingly, in reality, what kind of cargo can he carry? Believe the presentation of the creators of the Americans weaned.

            Wow !!!
The propeller blades are clearly visible behind.
But the propeller is very small. And the size of the air intakes clearly indicates a jet engine. It seems that the screw plays a supporting role.

I can hardly imagine how a jet engine can also be installed in such a glider. I will assume that the propeller is for a long flight with low speed and low fuel consumption.

It’s hard to disagree with you. However, a screw is available. The outlet of the turbojet engine is not visible on the video (which does not mean that the turbojet engine does not exist or cannot exist at all). The air intakes seem to be large, but is there enough space on the turbojet engine? What cravings will he develop?

This is a rotor fan engine, the middle between a turbofan and a turbovine, similar to the Russian Federation, the NK 93 is not implemented and the Ukrainian (I don’t remember the brand) standing on the un-implemented an70. perhaps Russian or Ukrainian specialists are working in Iran, or both, well, it seems that in the west there is another company that continues to deal with rifle fans after their failure to attach to civilian aircraft because of their noise, and in the 80s they thought about the future for them. their speed is approaching a turbofan, and efficiency at the level of turboprops
I am writing from the phone and I can’t follow the link to the video to verify the type of engine, but judging by your descriptions, this is a fan heater

But isn’t the design feature of modern rotor-propeller engines, firstly, a large number of blades (the average between the propeller and the turbine) and secondly, two screws instead of one, rotating in opposite directions?
And here there is only one screw, and it has only three blades.
In addition, in the examples you cited, the blades stood in front of the engine. They pumped air into the turbines. And then the screw is behind. A completely different physics.

I didn’t see the video if as you write, then of course not, it’s just that a post above showed someone a small screw diameter, and on this basis I made a preliminary conclusion, in any case, Iran itself hardly even has turboprop technology, without foreign professionals can not do.

                Watch the video.
The blades are straight and very slow.
In addition, the "propeller" has a relatively thin axis of rotation, while the "propfen" axis is thick, since in fact it is a pipe to which the blades are attached from the outside. The video shows the propeller. Three straight short, slow rotating blades on a thin axis.
Of course, the effect of the apparent slow rotation may occur due to the close coincidence of the frame rate of the shooting and the rotation of the screw. But this does not negate the fact that this is a propeller.

In Iran, their Internet was turned off on November 17, and in general, all, both mobile and cable. Only the internal network worked, that is, sites and network services located within the country. Only individual authorities, state-owned companies and the media had access to the outside. On November 16-18, the peak of the "petrol" riots occurred, after which they were suppressed and after a few days the Internet was gradually reconnected. The cable Internet was there all over the country in about a week, that is, on November 23-24, they returned, the mobile one a little later.
