The first multi-purpose Mi-38T entered the troops for trial operation

The Ministry of Defense received the first Mi-38T military transport helicopter; by the end of the year, the military will receive a second similar aircraft. About this in an interview with RIA News said CEO of Russian Helicopters Andrei Boginsky.

According to Boginsky, Russian Helicopters handed over to the Ministry of Defense the first Mi-38T transport and landing helicopter; it is in trial operation. The military will receive a second helicopter of this type during December 2019.

She (the machine) is in trial operation. By the end of the year we will transfer (...) the second

he said, without specifying when the first helicopter was handed over.

Last year, Boginsky stated that the first Mi-38T multi-purpose helicopter is planned to be transferred to the Ministry of Defense in the fourth quarter of 2018.

The medium multipurpose helicopter Mi-38 occupies a niche between the Mi-8 and the heavy Mi-26 and can be used for the transport of goods and passengers, used as a search and rescue helicopter, as well as for flights over the water surface. The Mi-38T (troop carrier) is the military version of the Mi-38.

The Mi-38T helicopter is equipped with new highly efficient TV7-117В domestic engines and an integrated digital flight-navigation system.

The flight range of the Mi-38T in the transport configuration is up to 1000 kilometers (with additional fuel tanks). With a maximum take-off weight of 15,6 tons, the helicopter is capable of taking five tons of payload on board or on an external sling.

The people, for which they rolled onto a colleague, did he say something stupid? Proved by practice: we need specially prepared helicopters, which are in small quantities; and trained pilots, koi too.
Let's refer to the experience of creating the famous 160soar "Night Stalkers", which serves SOF. At one time, they were faced with the fact that a normal pilot did not meet their requirements and shouted a cry: who is ready to fly without ever climbing above the treetops ... Their motto is: pilot should fly it, like he stole it ...
All this is in the Russian Federation, it is only necessary to introduce real experience. And many will be scared to go to bed ....

Another interesting innovation in the military. The military Internet has earned.
Russian missile systems "Iskander" connected to the "military Internet". Now the calculation of the installation in real time will begin to receive a ready flight mission and in a minute will be ready to attack the target.
According to the Izvestia newspaper, both the commander of a separate platoon and the Minister of Defense can manage the Iskander - an order can be issued both from the front edge of the front line and from the National Defense Management Center in Moscow. Such a fire control system, according to experts, will seriously increase the effectiveness of tactical systems.
According to the publication, tests of the new control system for operational-tactical missile systems (OTRK) Iskander took place this fall at the base of one of the brigades of the Western Military District.

The VK-2500PS turboshaft engine is a further modernization of the well-proven VK-2500 engine, developed by Klimov in the early 2000s.
The main difference of this engine is the use of a modern electronic automatic control system such as FADEC and surge protection. Thanks to new design solutions, the VK-2500PS will provide even more reliable operation of helicopter equipment not only in areas with a temperate climate, but, which is especially important, in areas with high temperatures and in high altitude conditions.
The development of VK-2500PS began in 2011 and will last until mid-2013. After testing and obtaining a type certificate in 2013, the VK-2500PS engine will be put into mass production in the new design and production complex of Klimov OJSC in Shuvalovo (Primorsky district of St. Petersburg). Klimov is developing new engines at his own expense.
At the same time, VK-2500 PS Klimov OJSC, by order of the Ministry of Defense, is developing a VK-2500P engine designed for use as part of the Ka-52 (Alligator) and Mi-28N (Night Hunter) military helicopters.

fatefully drew the fate curve of this car. It was created on instructions from the Ministry of Civil Aviation to complement the Mi-8MT fleet in the national economy. Then the collapse of the Union and the civilian customer was not up to it.
The current Russian civilian operators are either pushing the resource mi-8t / mt with might and main, or (who can afford it) take new mtv / amt. Despite the Mi-38 type certificate, its main units have not yet been tested by mass and long-term operation like mt-shek, and especially t-shek. In the civilian market, the mi-38, in spite of the obvious advantages over the eight (a large cargo compartment, a large payload, doorways meet modern safety requirements and higher horizontal flight speeds) will not find a niche, because it is more expensive due to the lack of a series and cannot boast of the same level of sophistication of the structure and assemblies.
and KVZ even such single deliveries are necessary to maintain the MI-38 program. this plant has invested quite a lot of its own funds for pilot helicopters to be assembled and flight tests conducted, and this perseverance should be rewarded even if a small but transferred to operation party. At the moment, this is the most profitable option for the development of the Mi-38 helicopter program.
Returning to the beginning of the commentary: it was created for the citizen, and the operation began in a lapid camouflage ...

The Russian Aerospace Forces will not buy it in any significant quantity.
It’s high time for the management of the holding to stop tormenting this project and tackle the redesign of the Mi-8 fuselage in the style of Mi-18 / -38.

According to the configuration (especially the lower part) of the fuselage, a rational approach is seen — simplification of the contours in concern for ease of maintenance in operation and manufacturability, material saving, reduction of production time and cost.
Such "belly" and sides of the cabin will be easily protected with easily removable flat armor panels of a simple configuration, or even include armor protection in the power set, further strengthening the bottom of the cargo compartment - a good design groundwork for modernization.
There are places on the sides of the fuselage for additional brackets and containers with weapons, fuel, reconnaissance and electronic warfare equipment.
Forkiliki from the sides at the opening of the cargo hatch indicate that the discharge of cargo and landing in flight are clearly provided.
The tail boom looks stiffer and better protected at the junction with the fuselage than on the Mi-8/17 - this is also encouraging.
The rectangular shape of the porthole openings will allow, if necessary, to organize onboard firing points with a good firing sector and easier to evacuate people in an "emergency situation".
In my opinion, this is a fairly thought-out machine (without even seeing the design of the main and tail rotors, looking only at the location and external design of the engine air intakes.
Let's hope that after a comprehensive "testing" - "fine-tuning" and the establishment of serial production, the Russian army will receive a suitable "workhorse" - the continuation of the glorious traditions of the Worker - "of the Eight", and Russia as a whole - an additional export "potential"! good
