The British Ministry of Defense announced the purchase of 500 BTR GTK Boxer 8x8

The British Ministry of Defense has signed a contract to supply the armed forces of the kingdom of armored personnel carriers GTK Boxer with 8x8 wheel formulas of various modifications. An agreement worth 2,8 billion pounds has been signed with the European procurement Organization for Cooperation in the field of armaments (Organization for Joint Armament Cooperation - OCCAR). Deliveries of armored personnel carriers will begin in the 2023 year.

The British War Department said that at the first stage, four modifications of the armored personnel carrier will be purchased: a linear armored personnel carrier, command and staff vehicle, a medical vehicle and an armament carrier. It is planned to equip the BTR Boxer (MIV) at the first stage of four motorized infantry battalions - two in two formed by the new "shock" brigades (Strike Brigade) of the British army.

In total, it is planned to purchase up to 900 armored vehicles with the wheel formula 8x8, while it was previously reported that the contract should provide for the ability to build and export vehicles from the UK, including the complete assembly of Boxer in the UK with at least 60% participation in the production of British industry.

Recall that the UK was originally part of the GTK Boxer BTR development program (MRAV) along with Germany and the Netherlands, but withdrew from it in 2003 to “create its own BTR”. However, in 2018, the UK Department of Defense announced its return to the program. Thus, Britain will become the fifth country after Germany, the Netherlands, Lithuania and Australia, which received this armored personnel carrier.

The Boxer is a multipurpose armored personnel carrier with 8 × 8 wheel formula. This German-Dutch development has a modular design that allows it to carry various weapons, including automatic guns and anti-tank missiles. In addition, based on the Boxer, mobile command posts, armored medical vehicles, etc. Due to the additional composite armor, the BTR Boxer is considered one of the most secure machines in its class. With a full combat load, the armored personnel carrier weighs 36,5 t and is capable of speeds up to 103 km / h.

And this is while NATO's brain has died. crying
MOSCOW, Nov 6 - RIA News. French President Emmanuel Macron said Europe can no longer count on the United States defending its NATO allies. He expressed this opinion in an interview with The Economist.
"What is happening now is the death of NATO's brain. You have no coordination in making strategic decisions," he said.

Tomorrow, these armored personnel carriers will be equipped with KAZ, and in the conflict zone they will be covered by attack helicopters and other weapons systems.

This BTR Boxer is no worse than any of our BTR.

KAZ is not a panacea, and especially for armored personnel carriers. It is ineffective against supersonic missiles and sub-caliber shells.

Do you have in mind the invulnerable armored personnel carrier?

Sub-caliber shells and ATGMs do not always keep the tank in the forehead, but there is nothing to say about the sides.

500 armored personnel carriers A boxer is power, if not cool.

Well, then we need to arm our armored personnel carriers with the module of the bank, and then these boxers, even with a kaz, will be expensive coffins. ..

This Boxer does not know how to swim, unlike our armored personnel carriers. How will they force the English Channel?

This "Boxer" was developed and produced by several technologically advanced European countries. Let me emphasize: SEVERAL states ONE APC. We are simultaneously developing a bunch of models of armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles. Each small factory with its small-town design bureau is trying to create something "unparalleled in the world". Here, not even two hares, but a whole herd are chasing. What is really surprising that beyond the bravura reports, and a couple of prototypes, which do not advance to the promised characteristics, like crawling to Beijing. But money for R&D is being used at an accelerated pace, yes.

Well, R&D is all the same ridiculous money, can not be compared with all sorts of disposable stadiums and Yeltsin centers. Let them engineer something, so at least people's brains will not dry out.

It is strange that the price of this clunker does not bother anyone. But it comes out more expensive than many tanks, and certainly any previously produced armored personnel carriers. 7 million dollars is not too much right.

The rich have their own quirks.

And so in fact they will be 60% British components and part of these funds allocated for armored personnel carriers The boxer will remain in the British economy.

We need to bring our "Boomerang" to serial production faster.

      And put on it KAZ.

Let not the whole army, but at least some units, shock and guards, receive a powerful and protected armored personnel carrier, and transplant the rest as far as possible on a budget.

Now Boomerang would come in handy in Syria. What is not sent there, at least a company is not clear.

So then the protection is better than 82 and verification and advertising of our weapons.

Check - perhaps. And as for advertising ... A couple of photographs of the burning "Boomerangs" (and you can knock out any combat vehicle, all the more damp so far), and the advertisement turns into deadly anti-advertising.

If the "Boomerang" turns out to be weakly protected and is easily hit and the KAZ turns out to be inoperative, then it will at least be obvious and this error can be corrected before this armored personnel carrier is put into production.

In general, the BTR "Boomerang" is an order of magnitude more protected than the BTR-82, especially from landmines, and it should be given to our soldiers in Syria.

The defense of our army is the paramount task. We need to think not about how the APC will look in case of shelling, but what will happen to our guys who will be ambushed without this APC.

DShK and KPVT militants of the BTR-82 sew like paper, it also holds a detonation weakly. The BTR "Boomerang" is better protected in every way and possesses powerful weapons.

Where is it not in Syria now to test it ?! He was checked at the training ground, now it's time to give at least some to those who are fighting in Syria at the very front line.

That’s why I am writing - it would be nice to send a test to check. But if advertising is paramount, you can break off. But here the question is who makes key decisions in the country and in the armed forces in particular: for whom is a weapon an instrument of protecting the Fatherland and promoting its geopolitical interests, or is it a product that needs to be sold as much and as expensive as possible (which is also including a form of promoting the economic interests of the state). Ideal for the country - when its warriors and merchants work for its benefit (not forgetting about themselves, of course), together, and not each pulling a blanket over themselves.
