The standard of living of Ukraine and New Russia. Exponential comparison
It is more expensive to eat in Ukraine
Not so long ago, a video thundered on the network in which authors compare prices in supermarkets in Kiev and Saratov. The results were very unpleasant for Ukrainians. Food in Russia is much cheaper than in Ukraine. Moreover, the most interesting thing is that even vegetables and fruits in Ukraine, which only recently claimed the status of an agricultural giant, are more expensive.
Of course, the hype surrounding this video caused a natural desire to compare the cost of products in LDNR and Ukraine. The results were approximately the same, which is not surprising, since the prices for food in Novorossia are not too different from the Russian ones, although the products themselves are much better in taste, as they are more natural. An exception is the so-called socially significant products, the prices of which are restrained in order to maintain their accessibility for socially vulnerable layers of the population.
It is also worth noting that Ukraine has significantly higher prices for fuel, alcohol and cigarettes, not to mention housing and communal services tariffs. When comparing living standards in the republics and Ukraine, the tariff factor is often decisive.
How much is life?
The average salary in the DPR according to official figures is 11,5 thousand rubles. Minimum - 4 813 rubles. In Ukraine, the minimum wage is significantly higher and amounts to 4173 hryvnia. As for the average wage, there are certain discrepancies. If you believe official Kiev, then it reached 10,1 thousand hryvnias, but this figure seems somewhat overestimated. Probably, it is relevant for large cities (Kiev, Odessa, Kharkov, etc.). As for the periphery, they call a much smaller figure - 6200-6500 hryvnia.
The situation is leveled out thanks to housing and communal services tariffs, which in Ukraine have reached record heights and continue to grow (in 2020, prices are expected to rise at the level of 20%). Even after raising tariffs this fall, the average payment for housing and communal services in Donetsk is about 600 rubles. After the start of the heating season, it will grow to 800-1000 rubles. Compared to Ukrainian tariffs, it’s just manna from heaven. If you believe the Ukrainian publication Liga.net, the average payment for utilities for a two-room apartment is 4-5 thousand hryvnias. At the same time, on October 1, new rules for obtaining subsidies came into force, after which hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries will remain without help.
By the way, the DPR government kept its promise. Raising tariffs in Donetsk, they promised to raise salaries for housing and communal services employees with these funds. Just the other day on official channels passed newsthat the increase still took place.
Why did the Maidan ride?
As predicted, the standard of living in Ukraine and New Russia is gradually coming to a common denominator. The republics are gradually raising social standards, the authorities are restraining, as they know, price increases, and thanks to the help of Russia, the cost of electricity and gas, the main components of payment systems, remains at a pleasantly low level. At the same time, in Ukraine, in accordance with the IMF's precepts and the rules of a market economy, prices are soaring.
At the same time, the choice made by Ukraine in the 2014 year affects the standard of living. It was not necessary to conquer the EU markets, but the Russian market was lost. As a result, agriculture contracted before the cultivation of wheat and a number of industrial crops, and vegetables and fruits have to be imported, which stories "Square" has never been. It ordered production to live for a long time, whole industries collapsed ... It is not for nothing that Ukrainians are so actively moving around the world - the number of migrant workers is estimated from 5 to 8 million people.
Not much time will pass, and the standard of living of a Ukrainian living on the periphery, outside the Kiev region and regional megacities, will equal, and then begin to lag behind the standard of living of LDNR residents. And, perhaps, this will be a significant defeat for Kiev.
However, Ukrainians will not know about this: TSN and the 5 channel will tell them that in Russia they eat the last hedgehogs, and in Novorossia they will eat each other, and they will believe together. Such a riddle: when Ukrainians go to Russia to earn money, they don’t believe that hedgehogs are eaten there, and how they return home they immediately begin to believe. Nothing to do about.
