WP: Trump believes that American actions in Ukraine annoy Russia
51
In the American edition of The Washington Post, material was released that presented the assessment by the US president of the situation in Ukraine. At the same time, the publication refers to an unnamed interlocutor who stated that he knows the position of Donald Trump on this issue. The material noted that the statement was made by a former representative of the American administration.
The statement of the retired WP official is as follows:
The president’s position is such that the following fact should be recognized in the USA: Russia should be our friend, and Ukraine should not worry us much.
The same person quoted by The Washington Post said that the American president allegedly professes the idea that the current US actions in Ukraine are not only useless for the US itself, but also annoy Russia.
Earlier in Ukraine, it was announced that Presidents Trump and Zelensky will hold a meeting on September 25 - at the UN General Assembly, where both gather for a speech. However, WP argues that the date of a possible meeting between Trump and Zelensky has not yet been agreed.
Recall that a meeting of the current presidents of the United States and Ukraine in Poland did not take place earlier. There Trump, being invited to a memorial ceremony on the occasion of the 80 anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, decided not to fly, citing Hurricane Dorian. Instead, he sent Mike Pence - the vice president - who ultimately made an ambiguous statement that "Poland is a strong and amazing country that has managed to turn a nightmare defeat into a great victory."
