The latest corvette of project 20380 has become one step closer to the transition under the wing of the Russian fleet. At the Amur Shipbuilding Plant, a ceremony was held for staging the ship in the outbuilding dock. It is reported by the TV channel "Star».
Russia continues to replenish its fleet with new ships. In Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the ship of the near sea “Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov” was introduced from the slipway workshop and transferred to the outfitting dock.
"Aldar Tsydenzhapov" refers to the corvettes of the 20380 project. They are classified as multipurpose combat surface ships of the 2 rank of the near sea zone. At the same time, NATO considers the 20380 project too large for corvettes, and defines them as frigates.
20380 project corvettes were developed by Almaz design bureau. Currently, the Russian Navy has six ships of this series. 4 of them serve in the Baltic Fleet, two more in the Pacific Fleet. The new ship should be the third in the Pacific Fleet.
The features of the ships of this project are compactness, stealth, a high percentage of systems automation. The 20380 project actively applies the principle of modular architecture. This approach allows to reduce production costs and increases the modernization potential of the ship in the future. The ship can carry Ka-27 anti-submarine helicopter.
"Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov" is to join the Pacific Fleet in 2020 year.
