The Ministry of Health announced a decrease in alcohol consumption in Russia
According to Oleg Salagai, deputy head of the Ministry of Health, the level of alcohol consumption per capita in the 2018 year fell to 9,7 liters per year. We are talking about the so-called "absolute alcohol."
Recall that when calculating the volume of alcohol consumption, absolutely all citizens of the country are taken into account.
Oleg Salagai noted that 9,7 l is still a lot, but still it is significantly less than 18 l, which were recorded several years ago.
At the same time, experts are rather skeptical about the assessment of the Ministry of Health, as the usual method of alcohol consumption is evaluated primarily on official sales. This technique may not take into account “own production”.
The Ministry of Health is currently discussing the idea of a ban on the sale of alcohol in Russia to people who have not reached the 21 of the year. It is planned that such a law in our country can come into force in the 2020 year.
For reference: today the most "drinking" countries of the world are Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Ukraine. According to the results of the 2017 year, Russia was in the 8 place of the unofficial “rating” with an indicator of about 10 l of “absolute alcohol” per year per capita.
