Turkey and US agree to establish Syria Joint Operations Center
66
It became known about the agreements reached between Ankara and Washington on Syria. The Turkish press, citing the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country, announces the start of work on the creation of the Turkish-American SCO (Joint Operations Center). If we take into account that the official Damascus did not give any requests for the creation of such a center, then the agreements of the USA and Turkey can be considered as the next occupational step with respect to the ATS.
The Turkish Ministry of Defense states that the Joint Center of Operations will not only plan, but also coordinate actions to form the so-called "security zone" in northern Syria. “Security Zone” is the territory actually occupied by Turkey and the USA in the northern provinces of the SAR.
The Turkish-American SCO will be located in the Turkish province of Sanliurfa, which borders the SAR. It is noted that work is already underway to create the appropriate infrastructure.
From the message of the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey:
During the negotiations, agreements were reached on the need for the early involvement of the centralized communications center. We are already taking important steps in this direction.
Recall that earlier official Ankara announced its readiness to start a military operation on the eastern bank of the Euphrates in Syria. Turkish authorities said they could not afford to do nothing at the moment "when the enemy is preparing a strike on the Turkish border." In this case, Ankara is understood by the enemy as Kurdish armed formations. But some of these groups are supported by the United States, as Erdogan has repeatedly stated. In this regard, it will be especially interesting to observe how the Turks are going to push the Kurds away from their border in northern Syria.
