They are called paratroopers, but the airborne regiment does not obey. The regiment also has combat swimmers, but this is not GRU special forces. He stood a stone's throw from Grozny - closer to God, as the servicemen themselves said.
As an afterword to the Airborne Forces Day, we publish a film by Igor Belyaev, the master of documentary. The film at one time aroused great interest of the audience at the Cannes Film Festival, becoming the leader of the out-of-competition program.
The film tells about the Caucasian events - the very ones when the fate of the whole country was decided. The documentary is dedicated to Russian soldiers who ended up in the Chechen Republic, being drafted from various parts of the country.
Alexander from Orel:
The Russian people are inextricably linked with the army. As we began to fight, the Slavs still, so all of ours story with this army, with this war and passed. Like a visiting card of our people.
An hour later, in front of the crew, a stray bullet found Alexander right in the camp. The wounded soldier was sent to a medical battalion in Khankala, having provided first aid.
