Not surprised. But the fact that an atomic lighter carrier in excellent condition is good. But the fact that the northern villages have perished together with the enterprises is bad.

What for? I have been driving cargo to the port of Arkhangelsk for six months .. last year I unloaded it on December 31)) and I'm not alone. This time I got to the port only on Tuesday. YAMALSPG had a couple of cars and I was able to redo the application only the next day.
That's the question .. Why are they driving there: equipment, building materials, equipment ...?

He would have been written off if there had been money for disposal. But there was no money of their own, and "our western partners" give loot only for cutting submarines. So we figured out what is most profitable and safest if it works.

Let me explain .. "SEVMP" was loaded with us in Arkhangelsk. I also brought cargo to it, for ChGGK (Chukotka Mining Geological Company) .. After unloading at the bypass I met the Urals cabover, which were carrying TPK .. about 10 cars .. Now it is clear where they were going.

The northern direction is the most promising, it is not for nothing that the "partners" have shown great interest in it recently, therefore, the expansion and strengthening of Russia's military presence in the Arctic region after many years of neglect is extremely necessary.

In 2003, the Atlantis Forest lighter carrier (formerly Alexei Kosygin) became one of such ships of the US government’s marine program. After the acquisition, the Americans were amazed at the achievements of Soviet naval shipbuilders.

Alexey Kosygin ", built in 1983 - sold in 1996 by the American Waterman Steamship Corp. Under the name" Atlantic Forest "and the flag of Liberia, he finally did his own thing, that is, transported lighters from the Gulf of Mexico to Europe and other parts of the world. fleet in 2007.

"Indira Gandhi", built in 1985 - sold in 1998 to an unknown owner, named Quan Yn, and then simply Quan. It was not possible to find out the current state, most likely it was sold for scrap.

"Le Duan", built in 1987 - sold in 1997 to someone unknown, named Willow, decommissioned in 2002.
"Ernesto Che Guevara", built in 1989 - sold in 1996. Sailing under the Panama flag, changed the name to Gaysin, Hickory. In 2007 it was bought by Eide Marine Services, which specializes in servicing offshore oil fields. Received the name Eide Carrier. Apparently the last survivor, although it is not clear what he is doing. The Eide Marine website does not appear in the fleet, but marinetraffic.com shows its position in some Norwegian fjord.

As I understand it, the whole thing rested on the high cost of servicing the automated control system, and not on the condition of the hull and ship mechanisms .. These are the kind of vessels that the Navy should have at the service .. - at least to the Arctic, even if it comes to Antarctica and brings in equipment and cargo .. Beautiful steamboat.

So we ordered an urgent study of the northern regions of Russia, Logistics, reserves, structure, etc. from a neighboring branch of VO:
The Pentagon’s Logistics Agency has placed an application for conducting a "study of the markets of the Arctic Circle with subsequent reports." As follows from the application, the customer is mainly interested in the Arctic ports of Russia. According to RT, at the disposal of which the above-mentioned document came to be, of particular interest are: Kolguev Island, YNAO, Murmansk Region, Severnaya Zemlya, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Novosibirsk Islands.
