MRK project 1234 "Gadfly" will receive a new electronic intelligence station
The upgraded RTOs of the 1234 Ovod project will receive a new radio electronic reconnaissance station. The first such station is already installed on board the upgraded Smerch MRC from the composition of the Pacific Fleet. She replaced the old complex "Titan", standing on the ISC. It is reported that the novelty has already passed the tests, but its name and exact tactical and technical characteristics are not disclosed.
It is known that the new station works without signal radiation - it simply monitors the radio-electronic environment and notes its changes. Reflected signals are analyzed by a special receiver, which determines the class of the craft by configuring the signals, which are currently well known. At the same time, the MRK itself, which does not include the main radar, remains "invisible" to other ships.
On the navy noticed that such "invisibility" gives RTOs an advantage over ships of a potential adversary, the theoretically modernized "Gadfly" can approach the distance of launching missiles and to a large ship, even an aircraft carrier, and hit it, especially since on RTOs instead of outdated heavy P-120s Malachite, "Uranus" complexes are installed with anti-ship missiles X-35, having a firing range of 260 km. In this case, the RTOs do not need to know the exact coordinates of the enemy. RCC X-35 with a homing head will independently detect and hit the target.
The updated “Gadflies” will carry up to the 16 RCC instead of the previous six (two quad installations from each side).
