MRK project 1234 "Gadfly" will receive a new electronic intelligence station

In the process of modernization, small rocket ships of the 1234 “Gadfly” project will receive a new passive radio intelligence station, which can detect enemy ships by radar emissions, radio stations and other airborne systems. This is reported by "Izvestia" with reference to the Main Committee of the Russian Navy.

MRK project 1234 "Gadfly" will receive a new electronic intelligence station

The upgraded RTOs of the 1234 Ovod project will receive a new radio electronic reconnaissance station. The first such station is already installed on board the upgraded Smerch MRC from the composition of the Pacific Fleet. She replaced the old complex "Titan", standing on the ISC. It is reported that the novelty has already passed the tests, but its name and exact tactical and technical characteristics are not disclosed.

It is known that the new station works without signal radiation - it simply monitors the radio-electronic environment and notes its changes. Reflected signals are analyzed by a special receiver, which determines the class of the craft by configuring the signals, which are currently well known. At the same time, the MRK itself, which does not include the main radar, remains "invisible" to other ships.

On the navy noticed that such "invisibility" gives RTOs an advantage over ships of a potential adversary, the theoretically modernized "Gadfly" can approach the distance of launching missiles and to a large ship, even an aircraft carrier, and hit it, especially since on RTOs instead of outdated heavy P-120s Malachite, "Uranus" complexes are installed with anti-ship missiles X-35, having a firing range of 260 km. In this case, the RTOs do not need to know the exact coordinates of the enemy. RCC X-35 with a homing head will independently detect and hit the target.

The updated “Gadflies” will carry up to the 16 RCC instead of the previous six (two quad installations from each side).

A formidable ship, and 16 missiles are cool for such a small displacement, even more than the "Perfect" ... smile

The missile salvo of the upgraded Smerch RTOs is now equal to the missile salvo of 2's 20380 project corvettes.

Now, each of the fleets is making 1 ship for launching target missiles at the Uranus base. For the CFL and the Black Sea Fleet, they are completing the construction of the Molniya, for the Pacific Fleet, the Smerch was modernized. Photo of the model of the project 12418 missile boat. Replacement of the Moskit missile system with a more compact Uranus with an increase in the number of missiles from 4 to 8 allowed to increase the superstructure of the boat, which now goes from side to side. The Moskit anti-ship missile system is out of date - in 2014, the missile was discontinued, and its carriers are gradually decommissioned. Uranus is smaller, but better suited for local conflicts, and cheaper to use as a target for naval air defense. At the moment, Vympel is building 2 such boats for the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla.

Another fresh photo. July 18. INTERFAX - DALNIY VOSTOK - The small missile ship of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) "Smerch" made a successful inter-base transition from a base in Kamchatka to Vladivostok to participate in the celebration of the Day of the Navy, the Pacific Fleet's press service reported on Thursday.
"The ship has recently completed technical work on repair and modernization, during which the ship was re-equipped from the Malachite missile system to the Uranus anti-ship cruise missile system. Now the MRK carries 16 such missiles," the message says.

The ship’s air defense with the task of destroying single air targets is assigned to the Osa-M self-defense anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) located in the bow of the ship.

It seems you do not know that the Uran anti-ship missile launcher is removable, and now the ammunition is loaded onto the ship by installing transport and launch containers with missiles on the lodgements.

Somehow on the way I got into a conversation with a man, was a midshipman on the Gadfly in the early 70s, and he praised: a successful ship. Small but biting.

This ship has very poor air defense, even by the standards of the 80s.

Quite rightly, "Wasp" is not even the day before yesterday. It would be nice during the modernization instead of the "Wasp" to put the UKSK module on 32 MD SAM systems, and instead of the 630-ki - "broadsword" / "palm"

Unfortunately, the modernization of spacecraft like Ovod is a necessary measure due to the chronic shortage of new ships, and I think it’s now clear why not only aircraft carriers, but even destroyers, are not being built ... Although, of course, it is better than never at all.

I think no one really doubts that the BOD 1155 and the 1164 cruiser will not be written off for another 20 years, and such ships as sharp will be not uncommon with us

It’s easier to destroy, a couple of years and no fleet, thanks to the Democrats, and to build a fleet of such quality you need at least 25 years, so we will slowly recover.

There were 2 built installations, 4 became four. Everything is simple.
